Ziwei cave

Seeing "Ziwei cave", the first reaction is that "immortal" is a pronoun for cultivating and living, and that fairyland is often embedded in this name.

Ziwei cave is located in the west of Chaohu. Ziwei mountain is named after the star of Ziwei in the sky, which has nothing to do with Ziwei flower. The top couplet of the gate of the scenic spot is "Purple air is rising and flowing, ten miles of life is beautiful"; the bottom couplet is "breeze is rippling, longitude and latitude are all square and elegant", and the horizontal inscription "crape myrtle cave".

There is Ziwei cave in the middle of the mountain, which was formed in the period of underground river in the process of crustal movement. Therefore, the layers formed by the impact of the underground river in the cave are very clear, and there are not many stalactites inside.

Partial hole is Wangqiao hole. It is said that in the spring and Autumn period, the prince of ZhouLing, Wang ziqiao, whose surname is Ji, whose name is Jin, and whose name is Zijin, lived in the cave to make alchemy and became an immortal. "Wangqiao cave" got its name. Wangqiao cave is the only cliff grotto of Buddhist statues in Anhui Province. There are five hundred Arhats carved on the stone wall, but only one of them has a head. It is obvious that the head was deliberately chiseled off, and the depth of chiseling is about two centimeters. According to the chiseling skills, it is judged that it was done by a skilled craftsman, but why it was chiseled off has become an eternal mystery. In the last years of the Qing Dynasty, it was recorded in Chao county annals that "the only one is intact, and the rest are headless.".

The most wonderful is the "four wonders" and "three wonders" in the cave. "Four wonders" are Tiangou, tianban, Tiancao, yuluozhang, shiegon and tianwai waterfall. Ziwei cave is different from other karst caves. Ziwei cave is a corridor karst cave formed by the erosion of underground river all the year round. The water source may come from all directions when the cave was formed, including surface water and groundwater. Next to Ziwei cave is Wangqiao cave, the only cliff grotto in Anhui Province. All the statues in it have no heads except one with a head. What is the reason for the formation of "headless Buddha", has been unknown.

Traffic information

Ziwei cave is on Jingting mountain, 4km away from Chaohu City. Take bus No.1 to the end of the city and walk for a distance of about 1000m. (about six yuan by taxi)
