Historical evolution

Site features

Mopan village is built with stone according to the mountain. It is an irregular oval shape with a circumference of 4454 meters. There are four gate sites in the city. The terrain of the city is open. There is a palace base in the center. It is in the shape of a ladder. There are nine steps in total, each step is 10 meters wide and 17 meters long. The foundation stones are arranged orderly

The city wall covers an area of 1.04 million square meters. The walls are clear, and the six gates are in the form of gaps

Cultural relics

There are a few relics of Bohai State and a large number of relics of Dongxia state in the mountain city of Mopan village. Among them, there are some relics of Wengcheng in the East Gate site, North Gate site and southwest gate site. There are small cities, building sites, smelting sites, water wells and other relics in the city. More than 500 pieces of cultural relics, such as animal face tiles, dripping eaves tiles, arrowheads and iron axes, were found. Most of them were made in the Jin Dynasty The seal of "danggongshi", jade belt, crystal jade mandarin duck, bronze mirror with inscription of "Shangjing Huining County chisel", copper diviner, copper elephant chess pieces, copper weights and hundreds of Tang, song and Jin copper coins

In 2017, archaeologists of Jilin Provincial Institute of cultural relics and Archaeology excavated a large-scale Guancang site of ancient Dongxia state in Mopan village mountain city. In the middle of the mountain city, the north side of Dongxia state building complex is composed of five rows of foundation stones, 21.25 meters long from east to west and 7.5 meters wide from south to north. Around the drainage ditch, a large number of ceramic building tiles are scattered on the site, and millet, red beans, wheat and other food crops are unearthed The materials have been carbonized and spread all over the building site, with a thickness of about 20 cm, especially in the middle, with a thickness of 35 cm. The quantity of carbonized grain crops is large and the purity is high. The seed particles can be clearly identified by naked eye. There is a round carbonized grain accumulation in the northwest corner of the building site, which is 4 meters in diameter and 40 cm in thickness. The grain size here is larger, which is different from the grain species in the building site. The grain unearthed in the northwest corner of the building site is mainly red bean, and a small amount of millet, wheat and buckwheat

Research value

The large-scale Guancang site discovered in Mopan village mountain city is an important remains with complete preservation, clear architectural structure, large amount of grain and more species unearthed in the same place in the eastern frontier of China. It can fully show that the agricultural production in the eastern Xia Dynasty was quite mature, and it also proves that the burhatong River Valley and the Hailan river bank around the site have already become the place of farming It is of great historical and practical significance to understand the dietary structure of local residents, the development of agriculture, the changes of economic forms, and to study the climate, ecological environment, and the effective utilization of natural resources in Tumen River Basin in the northeast of Jin Dynasty
