Huaihua Wanfoshan Geopark

Located in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, Southwest Hunan Province, China, Wanfoshan Dongzhai scenic spot, a national natural heritage, covers a total area of 168 square kilometers. It is composed of Danxia landform area, Baili Dong culture corridor and Gongcheng academy, the site of the Red Army channel.

Located in the northeast of the scenic spot, Wanfoshan Danxia landform area has formed a rare cone-shaped peak forest peak cluster Danxia landform spectacle after hundreds of millions of years of geological evolution. There are 46 scenic spots and more than 510 geological relics in the area, with vivid landforms such as ten thousand Buddha pilgrimage and Nanhai turtle. Yudai River and Taiping River are clear and winding, and Danxia wetland is scattered all over the world. Together with Danxia landform, they form a beautiful picture of "Danshan and Qingshui".

More than 20 Dong villages located in Pingtan River Basin constitute a corridor of hundred Li Dong culture. There are 163 drum towers, 61 Zhaimen and 68 Fengyu bridges in the corridor, which are known as the "three treasures of Dong architecture". The original Dong customs, such as douyao, Lusheng dance and Xingge sitting at night, are well inherited here. It is the most complete and distinctive "mysterious land" of Dong culture. The simple Dong customs and the simple Dong villages are naturally integrated with the unique Danxia landscape, which constitutes the human beauty of "harmony between man and nature".

Scenic spots have a long history, confirmed by the ruins of the great wilderness, as early as 4000 years ago, there were human beings living here. In 1934, the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army held a "meeting of transferring troops through channels" in Gongcheng academy, which became an important turning point for the victory of the Chinese revolution. Gongcheng academy, the well preserved site of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army, has been listed as the patriotic education base of Hunan Province.

Walking into Wanfoshan, the Dong Village scenic spot, is a journey to enjoy the Danxia scenery, taste the Dong customs and experience the historical precipitation.
