Mopanshan National Forest Park

Mopanshan National Forest Park is 215 kilometers away from Kunming City, only 3 hours away. Mopan Mountain is named for its shape. Mopan Mountain has twelve peaks and eleven streams. In spring, mountain flowers open one after another, forming a brilliant "flower sea" spectacle. In summer, the green lake is reflected by green mountains and green waves, forming a landscape of "people in the painting, mountains in the water, water around the mountains". In autumn, red, yellow and green leaves dot the mountains and forests. Winter and spring, the mountain fog transpiration, auspicious clouds, you can watch the fog sea wonders. The main scenic spots are forest lake, Moon Lake, cliff Valley, viewing platform, enemy mountain, hebaizu King's footprints, etc. In the forest park can not only get full visual enjoyment, because the scenic area is rich in oxygen ions, but also can mediate brain fatigue and self-cultivation.

Mopanshan National Forest Park

Mopanshan National Forest Park is located in the southeast of Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County. It is 20 kilometers away from Xinping County. It is named after the shape of the mountain like a millstone. Mopan Mountain is the primary and secondary primary forest area of semi humid evergreen broad-leaved forest in the middle mountain nearest to Kunming. Its standing stock is 443059.2 cubic meters, and its forest coverage rate is 64.2%, with 83.4% of shrubs, covering a total area of 242 square kilometers. There are 324 species of higher plants belonging to 137 genera and 98 families in the park. With the increase of altitude, Mopan Mountain presents a vertical distribution zone of plants, which has a high value of scientific research, teaching and eco-tourism development.

In February 2020, novel coronavirus pneumonia was released to the national medical staff, public security officers (auxiliary police) and their 2 families and direct relatives who died in the fight against the new crown pneumonia outbreak in February 2020.

Historical evolution

Mopanshan National Forest Park was established in 1989 with the approval of the Ministry of forestry.

In 1992, Mopan Mountain was listed as a national forest park.

The planning and design were completed in May 1993.

Mopanshan National Forest Park is located in the southeast of Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County. It is 20 kilometers away from Xinping County. It only takes 3 hours to go through Kunyu and Yuyuan expressways of provincial highway 218.

Mopanshan National Forest Park covers an area of 7232.1 hectares.

It is located in the southern edge of Yunnan Plateau, east of Ailao Mountain and Yuanjiang River Valley. The altitude ranges from 1260 m to 2614.4 M. Mopan Mountain is the primary and secondary primeval forest area of semi humid evergreen broad-leaved forest in Zhongshan, which is the nearest to Kunming.

Mopan Mountain has a subtropical inland plateau climate. The annual average temperature is 15.5 ℃ - 23.7 ℃. The altitude difference is large and the climate changes vertically. The climate changes from the south subtropical climate in the valley at the bottom of the mountain to the north subtropical climate at the top of the mountain. The alpine meadow in the middle of the mountain belongs to the middle subtropical climate. The annual average temperature is 14 ℃ - 16 ℃, and the annual average rainfall is 1000-1100 mm.

There are 324 species of higher plants belonging to 137 genera and 98 families. The volume of standing trees is 443059.2 cubic meters, the forest coverage rate is 64.2%, and the area is 242 square kilometers.

With the increase of altitude, Mopan Mountain presents a vertical distribution zone of plants, which has a high value of scientific research, teaching and eco-tourism development. The climate is vertically zoned, and the forest coverage rate reaches 86%. It is a primary and secondary primeval forest area dominated by semi humid evergreen broad-leaved forest in Zhongshan. There are 324 species belonging to 137 genera of 98 families, such as tree fern, Thoreau, camellia and Phoebe. Abundant animal and plant resources and special topography constitute the ecological natural landscape of Mopan Mountain, which integrates mountain, water, forest, cloud, spring, waterfall and alpine meadow.

Among all kinds of wild plants, Shuyou is under the first-class national protection, Camellia sinensis, spinulosa and Ailanthus altissima are under the second-class national protection, nanmu and Manglietia are under the third-class national protection. It forms a three-dimensional primitive forest landscape. In autumn, red, yellow and green leaves dot the mountains and forests.

Mopan Mountain is rich in forest resources, resulting in a wide range of wild animals, including nearly 100 kinds of birds and animals, among which the national first-class protected animals are: peak monkey, leopard, python, Green Peacock, etc. The second level protected animals include pangolin, jackal, black bear, musk, gazelle, giant squirrel, Silver Pheasant, golden pheasant, wild cat, etc. these animals often appear in them, which makes Mopan Mountain full of wild interest. Mopan Mountain's unique mountains and waters, flowers and trees, birds and animals live together and prosper together. It forms an ecological natural landscape with different tastes and charming charm, integrating mountains, water, forests, springs, clouds, meadows and wild animals and plants.

The main landscapes include forest lake, Moon Lake, cliff Valley, viewing platform, enemy mountain, foot print of hebaizu king, Michelia king, stone felt hat, Rhododendron sea, Camellia forest, rock sheep drum and more than 50 scenic spots.

Mopanshan National Forest Park is dominated by the natural landscape of subtropical virgin forest, including Azalea Forest, Taxus forest belt, Zhongqing cliff, forest lake, meadow in Central Yunnan, huiyindi, footprints of hebaizu king and enemy mountain.

Cultural customs

During the flower festival, traditional Yi folk song playing activities will also be held in Mopan Mountain. Unmarried girls and young men from Yi village will put on their costumes and gather in the flower field. People from all directions will meet in Mopan Mountain, playing Sanxian, Sixian, playing Lusheng and playing cigarette boxes.

Yi folk songs include "Shuli", "Guessing", "PanQu" and "zaqu". The music is mainly composed of instrumental music "Sanxian tune", "Sixian tune" and "Lusheng tune". There are many kinds of Yi folk dances, among which the cigarette box dance is popular in the area of Lukuishan and Mopanshan, accompanied by Yueqin, Sanxian, Niujiao, erhu and other musical instruments. Drum dance, commonly known as "Mopi flower drum", is popular in Mopi village, Pingdian township. It is a sacrificial performance dance, mainly showing the process of ancient battles.

In April 2018, Yunnan provincial tourism scenic spot quality rating committee decided to give Mopanshan National Forest Park a warning, with a deadline of 3 months for rectification.
