Iron Buffalo
Iron Buffalo, a sign used to record the fluctuation of river water.
Tieshuiniu used to be located at the intersection of Shahe, Yinghe and Jialu rivers, but now it is located at the upstream of the old bridge on the North Bank of Shahe River. It was built in 1878, which was the symbol of recording the fluctuation of Shahe water level and warning in flood season. In 1935, the Shahe Bridge in Zhoukou was built. Tieniu moved from the confluence of Shahe River, Yinghe River and Jialu River to the present site, which is still a sign of recording the fluctuation of the river. During the ten years of turmoil, the iron ox in Qing Dynasty was regarded as "four old" things and turned into iron juice. In July 1982, with the approval of the provincial government, the original iron buffalo was changed into iron buffalo.
