Ma Rong Township

Malong township is under the jurisdiction of Baiyu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Mafong township is located in the middle of the county, 61 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 794 square kilometers and has a population of 1956 (2017). It has jurisdiction over seven village committees, namely, geta, mahrong, rudang, Delai, Mamen, xiega and ranben.

Historical evolution

It was established in 1958, renamed Qianjin Township in 1968, changed to commune in 1974 and resumed in 1984.

Ma Rong township is dominated by animal husbandry, with cattle, horses and sheep as the main livestock. The territory of dense forests, vast grasslands, Cordyceps, Fritillaria and other valuable medicinal materials. There are white lipped deer, white eared pheasant, argali, Fritillaria, musk deer and other precious wild animals.
