From Guangmingding to the West or from paiyunting to the south, you can see flying stones. Walk 2km to the northwest road to xihaimen paiyunting. "Feilaishi" is a 12 meter high, 600 ton Boulder, the bottom and the peak suddenly separated, like flying from the sky, hence the name. The stone in a dream of Red Mansions is flying stone. Feilaishi is also known as "feilaifeng", namely "xiantaofeng".

Flying

Feilaishi, located on a flat rock in pingtianzhu, Huangshan scenic spot, Anhui Province, is formed by natural weathering. The contact surface between the two rocks is very small, and the last one seems to come from outside, so it is called "feilaishi".

The origin of the name

There is a huge stone standing on the rock platform among the peaks at the west end of guangmingdingping Tianzhu in Huangshan scenic spot. The boulder is 12 meters high, 7.5 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. The rock platform under it is 12 to 15 meters long, 8 to 10 meters wide and 1.5 to 2.5 meters thick. It weighs about 360 tons and has a unique shape. It is amazing that the boulder is erected on a flat rock about 12-15 meters long and 8-10 meters wide! The contact surface between the two rocks is very small, and the last one seems to come from outside, so it is called "feilaishi".

Geologists believe that the wonder of flying stones is formed in the process of geological changes, which can be said to be created by heaven and earth.

Of course, flying stone is not flying. It is integrated with the base platform in the lower part, which is composed of medium and fine grained porphyry granite intruded in the supplementary period of Huangshan rock mass. The granite structural joints are developed. Due to the cutting and cracking of two groups of NE and NW nearly vertical joints and NW nearly horizontal joints, the "flying stone" rudiment of long square column is formed, but it is still surrounded by rock blocks in this period . Later, in the continuous uplift of the upper body, due to weathering and erosion, glacial water and gravity collapse, finally formed the flying stone spectacle standing on the platform.

Folklore

It is said that in the Song Dynasty, there was a mason named Shan Fu who built many bridges for others in his life. He wanted to build one on the river in front of his hometown, but he sighed that he had no help.

There is only one girl under his knee, Xiao Jiao, who is smart and beautiful. Knowing her father's mind, she asked for help. But how could the little girl bear the hardships and tiredness of quarrying in the deep mountains and transporting stones for a hundred Li? So Shan Fu just refused. Xiao Jiao knelt down and begged, but Shan Fu nodded tearfully. He also asked three apprentices for help and soon began to work.

Because of the hardship and tiredness of carrying stones, the first and second disciples slipped away one after another. Shan Fu, his daughter and three disciples are determined to repair the bridge and continue to work hard in the wind and rain. But several years later, only a small pile of stones was transported to the riverside. I was so tired that I couldn't build the bridge. As soon as she gritted her teeth, Xiao Jiao asked someone to write four big words: "donate your body to repair the bridge." she inserted a straw sign and sat down beside the stone pile by the river. For three days in a row, countless people came to see it, but when they looked at the surging river, they all left.

This day, suddenly came a lame. When she asked Xiaojiao if she would like to go with him, Xiaojiao replied, "when you transport all the stones mined in the mountains to the riverside, you will go." The lame man turned out to be Tieguai Li in the eight immortals.

Stone form

He pushed out the crowd, and soon came to the mountain a hundred miles away. He took down the fan from his back and fanned the stone that Shan Fu and his three disciples opened. The stones flew up and fell on the river. Shan Fu and his three disciples were also fanned from the mountain to the bridge construction site. Tie Guai Li was not afraid enough. He fanned a huge rock three times. He stood on the huge rock and flew to the riverside.

I saw that the bottom was full of people, but I didn't dare to let the boulder fall. Listen to Shan Fu say aloud again: "the stone is enough.". He drove up the clouds and swam to Huangshan. Seeing the beautiful scenery of Huangshan, he dropped the stones. Since then, this flying stone has added a wonderful scene to Huangshan.

In addition, there are two flying stones, one on the side of Cuiwei peak and the other on the small peak in front of guyinglin temple.
