Jiuzu Cultural Village

Jiuzu Cultural Village

Jiuzu cultural village is located in Nantou County, Taiwan Province, near the Sun Moon Lake, covering an area of 62 hectares. The overall layout is dominated by traditional village buildings, with modern facilities such as "shuisha LIANLI Palace" and "laser music fountain" in imitation of European architectural style and artistic sculpture. In the village, there are all kinds of cultural, entertainment and living facilities, such as "Mountain Heritage Museum", performance hall, opera house, mountain view building and restaurant, dotted with lawns and gardens, which are simple, elegant and modern.

"Nine ethnic groups" are the folk names of the nine ethnic groups of Taiwan aborigines who retain more traditional culture than Pingpu People, namely, Yami, AMI, Taiya, saixia, Zou, Shao, BuNong, Beinan, Lukai and Paiwan. (Shao and Zou are one of the nine cultural villages in Taiwan.)

Like the "Chinese Nation Park" in Beijing and the "ethnic village" in Kunming, Yunnan, Taiwan also has a large-scale cultural facility - "nine ethnic culture village", which integrates the collection and protection of traditional ethnic culture, publicity and display, and tourism.

Mr. Zhang Rongyi initiated the creation of an amusement park with the theme of "nine ethnic groups". Under the guidance of Dr. Chen Qilu, Dr. zhitaro of qianqianyan, Mr. Xu Yingzhou, the collector, and many other materials, Mr. Yao Dexiong planned the construction of the amusement park, which started in 1983 and officially opened on July 27, 1986.

Park environment

The cultural village of nine ethnic groups is a combination of the cultures of the nine indigenous ethnic groups in Taiwan: Taiya, saixia, Zou, BuNong, Beinan, Lukai, Dawu, AMI and Paiwan, and then joined Shao. In addition, the park is planned to be divided into three theme parks: Aboriginal culture, happy world and European garden. In 2001, the aerial cable car was opened to carry visitors from Guanshan tower to happy world to have a bird's-eye view of the whole park and the Sun Moon Lake.

In the park, there are imitation real houses of all ethnic groups to build Aboriginal buildings, and there are performance theatres to show aboriginal dance skills: Naluwan theater and Shiyin theater.

Based on the investigation data of Japanese scholar qianqianyan in 1930, and combined with the field investigation, the residential complex in jiuzu cultural village was restored. It retains and embodies the traditional characteristics. Village landscape is divided into nine villages based on ethnic groups. Each village has its own unique style. Some cover their roofs with thatch, some cover their beams with stone slabs, some dig holes as rooms, some build stone walls, some frame wood as columns, and weave bamboo as buildings, some carve beams and paint buildings, and some are simple and elegant. Around these buildings, there are static objects and dynamic performances showing tribal organizations, living facilities, religious sacrifices, wedding and funeral customs, etiquette taboos, etc., which are of great academic and ornamental value.
