Zijin Temple

Zijin'an temple, also known as Jin'an temple, is located in the west of Dongshan Town in the southwest suburb of Suzhou. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. Among them, 16 painted Arhats have vivid posture and different appearance, which are rare in China.

Zijin Temple

Located in the Dongting Dongshan ximaowu, it was founded in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. Although the main building is only one hall and one hall, it is well-known for the Luohan statue of "spirit surpassing, calling for life" created by Lei Chao and his wife, a famous folk sculptor in the Southern Song Dynasty.

On the front of the main hall of zijin'an, there are Sakyamuni Buddha, pharmacist Buddha and Amitabha Buddha sitting on the rosette; JIAYE and Ananda stand on both sides; Guanyin wall on the island stands behind the "third Buddha"; and the sixteen Arhats of each wonderful appearance are listed in the niches on both sides of the main hall.

In 2006, the statue of arhat in zijin'an was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

The statue of arhat in zijin'an is very accurate in shape, moderate in proportion, vivid in posture and different in appearance. Some are meditating, some are sleeping, some are laughing, some are thinking, and all kinds of sculptures are vivid. "Long eyebrow" Luohan has a kind face and good eyes, and is full of good fortune; "Wine Review" Luohan tastes Du Kang all the time, and is drunk; "Fu Hu" Luohan is a dragon bell, but he has boundless power. He only moves to the tiger with his hand. The rotten tiger is tamed like a gentle kitten and licks the Cape at his feet; while "Baoxi" Luohan is arrogant and thinks that surrendering a tiger is just a small skill. The three Arhats on the right wall looked at the dragon on the column head. They saw the "dragon subduing" arhat with big eyes wide open, lips closed, feet off, feet on the seat, right hand palm up, doing the posture of "inviting" the Dragon down, left hand on the bent left knee, looking dignified and confident; the "admiring" arhat on the side looked at the dragon, hands spread, mouth open A sip, for the "dragon subduing" Luohan's magic to admire; and "contempt" Luohan side cross legs, turned his head, a look of disdain, but his sunken eyes are peeping at the column dragon, to see if it really will be subdued, the abnormal state of mind is shown incisively and vividly. "Listening to scriptures" arhat is the most devout. He is focusing on listening to Buddha's sayings, and fighting with each other. "Meditation" Rohan has a unique charm. He looks down at the front, as if he is thinking about a question, trying to get an answer. This kind of deep thinking and focused spirit is admirable. Although the sculptor sculpts the Buddha arhat, it is full of human feelings, as if living in the world. Luohan's clothing has distinct layers and natural pleats, showing texture. Craftsmen more than 800 years ago skillfully combined realism with vividness, showing the superb level of Chinese sculpture in the 12th century.

At the back of the hall is the Jingyin hall built of Phoebe. In front of the hall are golden osmanthus flowers and fragrant magnolias. Outside the hall are green pines and bamboos and beautiful peaches and plums. It's really like Gu Chaoyun, a poet of the Qing Dynasty. Green bamboo deep without heat, clear pool small day.

Transportation: take bus 502 to Dongshan Town, or take a bus from Wuzhong bus station to Dongshan Town, and then transfer to the minibus to zijin'an. Or take a disabled motorcycle in Dongshan, 8 yuan / car to get there, 20 yuan / car back and forth. It is suggested to let the coachman go back and forth, because there is no car at the gate of the nunnery.
