Chifeng botanical garden is located at the foot of the red mountain in the eastern suburb of Chifeng. Covering an area of 400 mu, the park is a northern botanical garden integrating scientific research, science and education, science popularization, sightseeing and recreation. The predecessor of Chifeng botanical garden is Arboretum. In 1987, under the guidance of the two levels of forestry authorities in the urban area, it was officially introduced and established.

In 1998, the arboretum was developed into a botanical garden by experts from the school of landscape architecture, Beijing Forestry University, and officially opened to visitors on May 28, 1999. There are 245 species of 44 families, 94 genera, plus more than 200 kinds of flower bonsai, more than 500 kinds of plants.

Chifeng botanical garden is dominated by botanical garden, with a wide variety of trees. Because its predecessor was the arboretum of suburb forest farm in Hongshan District of Chifeng. The main function of the arboretum is to introduce and train the trees in the semi-arid and surrounding areas of northern China, so as to change the situation of single afforestation species in the barren hills of Chifeng area. Since the establishment of the arboretum, 245 species belonging to 92 genera and four families have been introduced from Hebei, Liaoning, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Xinjiang.

After the completion of the first phase project of Chifeng botanical garden, 16 scenic spots have been built, including gate area, tree special area, children's entertainment area, flower viewing area, treasure plant area, water park area, forest functional area, bonsai viewing area, lookout area and unique cave area. It has become the only ideal tourist destination in Chifeng to know, learn, love and use nature. In the follow-up works of the first phase of the project, the construction of "forget worry garden" and "Water Park" has been started successively. The forget worry garden is mainly made of wood structure with comprehensive fitness functions, including wooden pavilions, antique waterwheel, adult, middle-aged and juvenile land roller. Floating ladder and other leisure projects make visitors refreshing. indulge in pleasures without stop. The water park is mainly composed of various water sports, such as flying in the air, high-altitude suspension bridge, water roller, etc. It is very popular among tourists. At the same time, many individual investors invest in many large amusement projects in the botanical garden. Such as Ferris Ring car, crazy mouse, UFO, aerial bicycle. More than 20 kinds of amusement facilities, such as fast car surfing and luxury horse riding, have achieved good economic benefits.

Since its opening, the botanical garden has received leaders of Buch and other countries, governments of Russia, Germany, France, Japan, Mongolia and other non-governmental international friends. The completion of the botanical garden has also promoted the development of animal related industries, provided new jobs, and achieved good ecological, social and economic benefits
