Confucianism palace in Haiyang County

The Confucian palace of Haiyang county is located at the junction of Changli road and Wenxing road in Chaozhou City. It is commonly known as Redology and Xuegong. It was first built in Shaoxing of the Southern Song Dynasty and was destroyed by fire in 1278. Although the Dacheng hall was rebuilt in 1369, its main building still retains the style and features of the hall buildings in eastern Guangdong in the early Ming Dynasty. There are statues of Confucius and his disciples in the hall. The existing buildings in the palace, such as Dacheng hall, panchi, Lingxing gate and Zhaobi, only account for one third of the original area. The Dacheng hall retains the palace style of the Ming Dynasty. The beam type roof truss is supported by 43 columns, and the hall is surrounded by stone railings. In recent years, Lingxing gate, Jinsheng gate, Yuzhen gate and panchi gate have been rebuilt, and six steles of the Ming and Qing dynasties have been embedded. The academy is an important revolutionary memorial, where the Political Department of the first division of the National Revolutionary Army and the officers' training regiment of the Nanchang Uprising army were stationed. The academy is now the site of Chaozhou Museum.

County Confucian Palace "old government in the west, attached to the right county school.". To song Shaoxing years (1100), county magistrate Chen Tan moved to JinFang (today's site). Since then, there have been many renovations in the past dynasties, making Haiyang academy a large-scale and well preserved ancient building complex. However, due to historical changes, the existing area of the academy is only 4000 square meters. The main buildings are Lingxing gate, pangchi, two verandah rooms, Dacheng gate and Dacheng hall. Dacheng hall is the main building of Haiyang county academy, which still retains the architectural customs of Ming Dynasty. It has double eaves on the top of the mountain, five rooms in the west, four rooms in the depth, gold boxes, bottom grooves and column network. Chaozhou museum is now located in the county Confucian palace. In addition to enjoying the unique buildings, there are many kinds of cultural relics on display in the palace, including jade, ceramics, bronze, iron and tin, Chaozhou wood carving, embroidery, ancient calligraphy and painting, local literature (thread bound book), folk cultural relics, revolutionary cultural relics, etc.
