Red Stone Park

Hongshi park is located in the center of Laiwu City, Jinan City. It is adjacent to Luzhong street in the south, Wenyuan street in the north, Gongyuan road in the East, Changshao road in the west, and Laiwu municipal government square. With a total area of about 54 hectares, including water area of about 8.5 hectares, green area of about 3.9 hectares and road square area of about 0.46 hectares, it is the largest comprehensive entertainment place in Laicheng district and the largest public open park in Laiwu City.

Introduction

Founded in 1987, Shandong Agricultural University is responsible for the overall planning and design of the park, which is divided into eight scenic spots: Tongle Huanyu, battlefield Qifeng, Qunfang gathering, Songhe Hongqing, Xueye Tianguang, shuohai fangtao, Yecheng Gufeng and Huaxia take-off. The design concept of the park is unique, the overall layout is reasonable, and the local characteristics are highlighted. The whole park is named for its large area of exposed red stone.

The red stones with bright colors and varied patterns were formed in the Mesozoic Jurassic more than 100 million years ago. Due to the intense crustal movement, the aggravation of terrain differentiation, the climate gradually turned dry, and the influence of continental basin sedimentary environment, the rocks formed are mostly thick red clastic lithofacies, commonly known as red beds. Later, due to the strong Yanshanian movement and long-term weathering and denudation, the Jurassic red beds in Laiwu only exist in the trough of the nearly East-West trending baligou Syncline in Laiwu, and are distributed in Laicheng and southeast area. Because the lithology is bright red fine to medium grained feldspar, it is called "red stone".
