Xuzhou Concert Hall project is located in the North Bank of Yunlong Lake. The project includes three parts: Concert Hall, outdoor performance square and entrance square of concert hall, with a total construction area of more than 13000 square meters. Among them, the building area of the concert hall is 10530 square meters, which can accommodate 986 audiences.

Design concept

Xuzhou Concert Hall

With crape myrtle as the creation prototype, the whole building looks like a flower blooming in the water. Creative thinking, on the one hand, from the particularity of the city flower, we hope that this representative public cultural building can have the exclusive content of the city, on the other hand, from the characteristics of the site, we hope that the building can show some forms closer to nature and integrate into the surrounding natural environment. Another important idea comes from the understanding of the "beauty" of cities. Architects have their own opinions on how to grasp and pursue the beauty of the city and architecture. They don't want to follow the crowd simply and are more afraid of vulgarity. Therefore, in terms of architectural conception, they often intentionally or unconsciously avoid the public's eyes. The creation of Xuzhou concert hall is to create a popular and easy to understand building from the perspective of ordinary people's preferences and life, and a beautiful building integrated into the whole city.

The expression of "crape myrtle" in architecture does not simply imitate the specific form of crape myrtle, but uses abstract architectural techniques to show the soft and beautiful posture of flowers. The building is wrapped by 8 curved surfaces and overlapped layer by layer. At the entrance, the curve gradually unfolds, forming the entrance of the building naturally. The curved surface divides the transparent glass part and the opaque metal part by the curve. These changing curves and curved surfaces depict the rich and varied intention of Lagerstroemia indica. The design more expresses the public's simple concept of natural beauty: graceful shape and elegant posture, which makes the architecture more close to the regional culture and public aesthetics.

Function layout

Xuzhou concert hall has the main function of music performance, as well as theater, song and dance, studio and other functions. There are 986 effective seats in the theater, with four floors above the ground. The main entrance of the audience is set at the upper entrance level of the pool seat of the auditorium on the second floor by using the terrain height difference of the venue. The audience can easily enter the auditorium from the city road. The entrance of the stage is close to the lake, one floor lower than the main entrance of the audience, realizing the natural diversion. There are viewing platforms on each floor of the audience rest hall of the concert hall. During the performance interval, the audience can enjoy the beautiful Yunlong landscape around the platform, extending the outdoor natural landscape to the indoor. Each floor of the platform is equipped with audience cafe, art shop, cloakroom and other supporting facilities.

Design features

The most distinctive feature of the concert hall is that the rear of the stage is designed as an openable landscape stage. As the stage is facing Yunlong Lake, when the metal curtain behind the stage is lifted up, the audience sitting in the auditorium can see the natural landscape outside the stage. No matter in the performance gap or in the middle of the performance, the opened landscape stage will receive unexpected special effects, so that the audience can more truly experience the unique beauty of the place. For this reason, a fire-proof and sound insulation metal curtain is set at the rear of the stage, and the exterior building envelope adopts a very transparent cable point glass curtain wall to ensure a transparent line of sight. Super white glass laminated hollow ensures good sound insulation, heat insulation and intervisibility.

Architectural acoustics design

The acoustic design of Xuzhou Concert Hall focuses on ensuring concert performance, improving the use efficiency of the hall, and taking into account the functional requirements of song and dance drama, literary and artistic performance, television performance, etc. Architectural acoustic design should solve the problems of sound fullness and lyrics clarity in singing and orchestra performance. The main function of architectural sound design is music performance, which requires full sound without turbidity, enough loudness, no change of the performer's original timbre, uniform sound field distribution, strong enough and large coverage of early reflected sound, so as to obtain a better sense of intimacy.

It can meet the requirements of symphonic concert, chamber music and orchestral natural sound performance. The reverberation time of the auditorium is designed to be 1.3 ± 0.1s at 500Hz. The reverberation time of the concert hall is about 1.7s after adding the reverse sound cover, which meets the requirements of the concert. Drama performance adopts natural sound and partial effect sound, acoustic design is mainly based on natural sound performance, supplemented by electroacoustic system.

The walls of the auditorium and stage area with the highest sound insulation requirements are reinforced concrete walls and double-layer infilled walls. The entrances and exits of the auditorium and stage are separated by sound gates, and two fire-proof and sound insulation doors are set. The wall of the stage area adopts strong sound absorption structure, and the interior wall and ceiling decoration of the sound control room adopts strong sound absorption structure. The air conditioning room near the stage area adopts the floating floor with special elastic isolation layer formed by special rubber vibration isolation gasket, and the partition wall adopts double-layer partition wall. The level of background noise control and construction sound control of the whole concert hall has reached a very high level, which is evidenced by the numerous praise from the performing groups and the audience after the completion of the concert hall.

External curtain wall

According to reports, the concert hall uses eight steel structure welding, from the appearance of eight crape myrtle petals. Glass and aluminum plates are used to package the outer curtain wall of the steel structure. The material of the outer curtain wall adopts three layers of sandwich glass, the glass thickness reaches 4.5cm, and the largest large glass weighs nearly one ton. Aluminum plate with double-sided hyperbolic honeycomb sandwich board, anti impact, anti wind, structure is very strong.

Night Scene Effect

In order to highlight the landscape effect of the concert hall at night, LED is installed on the aluminum plate, which can produce the effect of twinkling stars. In addition, scanning lights will be installed at the bottom of the aluminum plate to make the concert hall look like a projection screen.
