Caoyuan cave

Caoyuan cave is located in the northeast of Hunan Province, 13 kilometers away from Pingxiang City and 3 kilometers away from the center of Xiangdong city. Because it is located under Dongling (called Jinshan in ancient times) and the stream in the cave originates from caojiashan, it is called Caoyuan cave in Jinshan.

Main attractions

There are stalactites, stalagmites, stone flowers and stone curtains all over the cave. It is divided into two parts: the dry cave and the water cave. The length of the dry cave is about 600-700 meters. The largest place can accommodate more than 1000 people, and the height is up to 40 meters. Entering the cave, about 10 meters in length, there is a hall 15 meters long, 20 meters wide and 30 meters high, surrounded by a cluster of stone breasts, crisscrossed up and down, in the middle of which is a Jiupin lotus terrace. A stone man in the shape of Guanyin sits on it, and a small stone man prostrates in front of it, just like a real person. The water cave is winding, big and small, high and low. The spring water gushes from the bottom of the pool and flows out of the cave from the stone crevice. Carp can often be seen swimming in the water. The water is continuously flowing throughout the year, irrigating more than 1000 mu of good farmland. Using this spring water, we have developed a fishery science and technology field with an area of more than 200 mu, which can breed rare fish species. In addition to scientific research, it can also be used for people to watch and fish.

Outside the cave, there is a quiet valley on the right side of the mountain. Along both sides of the mountain road, there are five small round hills, which are the five huge oil storage tanks of the war readiness oil depot in those years. The local people call them "yurts". Now the oil depot has been moved away, leaving five round shells with a diameter of more than 40 meters and a height of more than 20 meters. The inside is warm in winter and cool in summer. It is an ideal place for summer recreation.
