XIAOJINSHAN

XIAOJINSHAN is one of the 24 sceneries of thin West Lake in Yangzhou. It is a small island in the thin West Lake, formerly known as Changchunling. It was built in the middle of Qing Dynasty. At that time, in order to open up the waterway from Slender West Lake to Daming Temple, Yangzhou gentry dug a new river of lianhuageng in the northwest of Slender West Lake. The soil from the river was piled into a hill, which is today's XIAOJINSHAN. XIAOJINSHAN is surrounded by water. The water turns with the mountain, and the mountain is alive with water. There is a "wind Pavilion" on the top of the mountain, which is the highest point of the whole garden.

From the front right side of Diaoyutai, the round hole in the middle of Diaoyutai is a scene of "wutingqiao" and the round hole on the left is a scene of "Baita". It is just like two single pictures. Its skillful technique of borrowing scenery is admirable. Yueguan is the hall of the building near the lake, with lattice fans on all sides, and Guiyuan is behind the hall. When Osmanthus fragrans are in full bloom in August, the window is opened to enjoy the moon, the fragrance is overflowing, and the two moons in the sky and under the water can be seen together. This scene is very moving.

The origin of the name

As for the name of "XIAOJINSHAN", there is another origin: it is said that there was a chat between two monks in Yangzhou and Zhenjiang. The Zhenjiang monk said, "Qingshan is also tired of Yangzhou customs, and many peaks and hills can't reach the river." Yangzhou of course do not agree with this view, so the two people bet on chess. As a result, the monks in Yangzhou were very good at playing chess. The scene was named "XIAOJINSHAN" and hung such a couplet in the court: "if the fingers are empty, can the jade bureau ever take them with you? If the fist is not big, Jinshan is willing to cross the river." With only one "small" word, Zhenjiang's "Jinshan" was extradited.

XIAOJINSHAN, named after the old scenic spot "XIAOJINSHAN", belongs to the archipelago. Located in the northwest corner of the Central Lake area, 9 kilometers west of Chun'an County. With a total area of about 2.6 square kilometers and an altitude of 220 meters, it is composed of 41 islands.

It was recorded in county annals, government annals and general annals of all dynasties, and has long been honored as a "scenic spot in Western Zhejiang". According to the records of Fangyu in Volume 1 and volume 4 of xuzuan Xiantan, the Jiashen edition of the Qing Dynasty, "XIAOJINSHAN, facing Zhaoshi across the bank, is like Zhenjiang Jinshan, which is ten miles to the west of the county.
