Pawnbroking exhibition hall

Pawnbroking exhibition hall is a pawnbroking shop opened in the sixth year of the Republic of China. It was originally the property of Macao rich businessman Gao Kening. The pattern of this pawnbroking shop, no matter its appearance, architectural design, arrangement of internal furnishings, tools and procedures of pawnbroking records, was set up according to the basic pattern of Chinese pawnbroking shops in the early Republic of China.

Pawnbroking exhibition hall

Pawnbroking exhibition hall is located in Xinma Road, Macao Special Administrative Region. It was originally the dechengjian of pawnbroking. Pawnbroking exhibition hall is a museum cooperated by the government and the people, and is a part of the cultural hall. Its real estate is private property and its management is the responsibility of Macao Cultural Bureau.

Pawnbroking exhibition hall was originally the property of Macao rich businessman Gao Kening. It was built in 1917. The property has been vacant since Decheng closed in 1993. By 2000, the owners were interested in selling the building and rebuilding it. Subsequently, the Macao government took the initiative to contact with the owners and agreed that the government should invest 1.4 million yuan for repair. After repair, the government can use the ground floor of the pawnbroking building and the cargo building as a pawnbroking exhibition hall; the other floors of the pawnbroking building and the adjacent Fu Heng Bank will be used by the owners. The pawnbroking exhibition hall was officially opened on March 21, 2003. The opening ceremony was presided over by he lizhuan, director of culture, Jin Yong, famous writer and Cai Lan, columnist. This restoration project was awarded the "2004 UNESCO Asia Pacific Cultural Heritage Protection Award".

Exhibits

Although Pawnbroking is an ancient industry, the modern industry has gradually declined. The pawnbroking building and tower of pawnbroking exhibition hall are only over 100 square meters. The building structure is a relatively complete pawnbroking building, which is divided into pawnbroking building and cargo building. Through a series of historical pictures, patterns, decorations and more than 40 pawnbroking recording tools, the pawnbroking exhibition hall displays the features of the traditional pawnbroking industry
