Edinburgh place is a beautiful coastal Plaza in Hong Kong. Built after the Second World War, it is the result of the early reclamation project in central of Hong Kong Island. It is also regarded as a model of modern and practical architectural complex in Hong Kong after the Second World War, and even a model of public space in the downtown coastal area of Hong Kong.

brief introduction

On top of the Plaza are Edinburgh square pier, Queen's Wharf, Hong Kong City Hall (high and low blocks), three storey car park (East and West blocks), and Hong Kong City Hall Memorial Garden. Once upon a time, there was the Bogong wharf beside Edinburgh square wharf, but it was demolished in the early 1990s in response to the central reclamation plan, and the pre World War II style Bogong wharf was relocated (in Stanley).

In response to the Central Reclamation, most of the buildings in Edinburgh square will be affected and planned to be demolished for redevelopment

In 2006, the Edinburgh square Pier (the old star pier in central) was demolished and replaced by Central Pier (No.7 and No.8);

In 2007, Queen's Pier on the plaza was demolished and replaced by Central Pier (No. 9 and No. 10).

However, the demolition action is hindered and controversial because of people's demand for the integrity of the buildings, as well as the voice for cultural heritage, collective memory and public space.

In 2007, the Queen's Pier on the square was demolished, and the pier with the same function was replaced by Central Pier (No. 9 and No. 10).
