Historical evolution
The history of running the school can be traced back to the Tibetan cadre training class in 1951. It has gone through the development stages of the cadre school of the Tibet Military Region, the Tibet local cadre school, the Tibet administrative cadre school, the Tibet normal school (established in 1965) and the Tibet Normal University (established in 1975).
In July 1985, Tibet University was established.
