Fanxian palace, located in shangwanyao village, Tai Po, New Territories, is one of the statutory monuments in Hong Kong.
In the 13th year of Kangxi (1674), the Hakka Ma people who moved to the South bought the kiln of Wanyao village from the Wen family. Later, the business became better and the scale gradually expanded. Ma Caiyuan, the 16th ancestor of Ma, specially invited fan Xian from the ancestral land of Changle County, Guangdong Province to stay in Wanyao and built a temple to worship him. According to textual research, Fanxian palace was built during the reign of Ganlong (1736-1795).
Fanxian palace is the only temple dedicated to Fanxian in Hong Kong, which witnessed the rise and fall of the ceramic industry in Hong Kong. Therefore, it was listed as a statutory historic site on December 30, 1999
