Niutoubei

In order to develop the tourism industry at the source of the Yellow River, the people's Government of Maduo County built a "niutoubei, the soul of China, at the source of the Yellow River" in September 1988. The total weight of the monument is 5.1 tons and it is made of pure copper. The late 10th Panchen master and Comrade Hu Yaobang inscribed the inscription "the source of the Yellow River" in Tibetan and Chinese respectively. The Niutou stele is located at the peak of cuorigaze mountain in Mado County, with an altitude of 4610 meters. The height of the stele is 3 meters, and the height of the pedestal is 2 meters. It is inlaid with copper mold. The stele is unique in style and powerful in font, which symbolizes the long history of the Chinese nation and its hard-working and simple character. Cattle, the sacred worship of primitive totem, is chosen in the monument. Nestled next to the simple, majestic and rugged fence of Niutou monument, the silver clad Bayankala mountain is far away, towering into the clouds. Under the snow capped mountain, the grassland is as green as wash. The cattle and sheep scattered all over the hills and lakes swim safely; the black-and-white tents are dotted on the green velvet carpet, like carrying poles, like mushrooms, surrounded by smoke, and the pastoral flute is long. This beautiful and tranquil scenery makes people forget to return. It has endless aftertaste and gives them a sense of mind.

The origin of the name

On one side of Zaling lake, there is a hill with a relative height of two or three hundred meters. Cars can drive there, but its altitude is more than 4600 meters. The name of this mountain is Bayan Langma mountain, people call it Niutou mountain, because there is a bronze statue of Niutou on the mountain, so it is named.
