Hainan Jianfengling National Forest Park

Jianfengling is the largest and best preserved tropical rainforest in China. It is located in the southwest of Hainan Island and spans Ledong and Dongfang Li autonomous cities and counties. The open scenic spots include Mingfeng Valley, Yulin Valley, Butterfly Valley, main peak, Tianchi, valley rain forest, Dayuan Junma Xiaying, Jiulong River, Bauhinia waterfall, etc.

Hainan Jianfengling National Forest Park is located in the southwest of Hainan Island, across Ledong and Dongfang counties and cities, 90 km away from Sanya City, with a total area of 46666.67 hectares. The forest park is located in the tropical rainforest climate zone, with the annual average temperature of 19.7 ℃ and the highest monthly average temperature of 22.9 ℃. The vegetation types are tropical semi deciduous monsoon rain forest and tropical evergreen monsoon rain forest, and the forest coverage rate is 98%. The main scenic spots are: main peak, Tianchi, Mingfeng Valley, Yulin Valley, Butterfly Valley, ravine rain forest, Dayuan Junma Xiaying, Jiulong River, Zijing waterfall, etc.

In September 1992, it was approved as a national forest park by the former State Forestry Administration.

Hainan Jianfengling National Forest Park has 18 mountain peaks with an altitude of more than 1000 meters. Jianfengling, with an altitude of 1412 meters, is the first peak in the park. It is formed by long-term geological movement (granite intrusion and crustal uplift). It has a unique geological feature of "looking at the mountain horizontally and forming a peak on the side".

The annual average temperature in the central area of Hainan Jianfengling National Forest Park is 19.7 ℃, the summer average temperature is 25 ℃, the highest monthly average temperature is 22.9 ℃, and the lowest monthly average temperature is 15.1 ℃. As of May 2016, the vegetation at the top of Jianfengling National Forest Park in Hainan Province is a typical mossy dwarf forest with more temperate elements, such as Fagaceae, rhododendraceae and vaccinidae. Common flowers are: Magnolia, Myrtle, Wild Peony, Hainan Huangqi, Hainan Rhododendron, Oxalis honghuaensis, Caoyu, cactus, Cymbidium, Cymbidium, Cymbidium, ivory white, Hedyotis, Cymbidium, anolan. Tropical fruits mainly include cashew, fig, banana, avocado, papaya, mango, guava, kiwifruit, Phyllanthus emblica, carambola, honey, rambutan and sour bean.

Animal resources

As of May 2016, Hainan Polu deer and Hainan black crested gibbon are rare protected animals in Hainan Jianfengling National Forest Park, which are mainly distributed in Jianfengling and Bawangling. The key protected animals living in Jianfengling include: macaque, big civet, little civet, Hainan leopard cat, clouded leopard, coconut cat, black bear, little melon otter, Hainan otter, tree glider, giant squirrel and pangolin. 215 species of birds have been found. The rare birds under state protection include peacock pheasant, Silver Pheasant, jungle fowl, eagle eagle, egret with yellow beak, hainanshan partridge and Hainan tiger spotted crow. Amphibians and reptiles, the national key protected animals are: flat breasted turtle, golden Qiangui, Shanrui, python, king cobra, cobra, Bungarus, Bungarus, spotted flying lizard, Ryukyu wart salamander, small nevus wart salamander, Southeast Asian mane like toad, tiger frog, spotted leg tree frog, Ze frog, marsh frog, playing piano frog, etc.

Heaven Pool

Tianchi Lake is a 40 hectare high mountain lake with an altitude of 820 meters and a surface area of 600 mu. Located in Tianchi scenic area of Jianfengling National Forest Park, the deepest water level of Jianfengling Tianchi is 26 meters. Around Jianfengling Tianchi, there are Jianfengling tropical rain forest nature reserve, mingfenggu, yulinggu, botanical garden, rare zoo, "four wonders of the world", "tiger roaring and dragon singing" and other scenic spots.

Mingfenggu

There are many birds and animals in Mingfeng Valley, such as peacock pheasant, crested eagle, yellow billed egret, and jungle fowl. They can often hear their calls, so they are called Mingfeng valley. With a total length of 1.98 km, you can see three complete periods of towering trees, hanging gardens, big roots, strangulation, Tongtian trees and other tropical rainforests in the corridor of Mingfeng valley.

Jianfengling main peak

The main peak of Jianfengling is 1412.5 meters above sea level. In ancient times, it was called "xiaoliju mountain" and known as "South China Sea fairy mountain"; there are many landscapes, such as the Buddha light of South China Sea, the moss grove on the top of the mountain, the war tunnel, the ancient hunter's road, etc. On the main peak, there is a battle readiness tunnel on the top of the mountain, which was not left in the 1960s. It is about 60 meters long, 4 meters wide and 3 meters high. It can accommodate hundreds of people at the same time. The mark left by the military life of that year can still be seen in the tunnel. It is a historical witness of Hainan Island's national defense construction.

It is said that a thousand year old Ganoderma lucidum grew on the cliff of Jianfengling long ago. This magical Ganoderma lucidum can cure all kinds of diseases and prolong life. So the emperor sent a deer to guard Ganoderma lucidum, and as soon as the time came, he offered it to the queen mother to celebrate her birthday. But one day, in order to rescue a Li village suffering from a plague disaster by the sea, shenlu picked this magical Ganoderma lucidum and presented it to the Li people. The people of Li village were saved, but the deer was so angry that it was driven into the world and turned into a beautiful deer tree.

Transportation information: 1. Starting from Sanya: take the provincial bus from Sanya bus terminus or west station to Huangliu Town, generally every 15 minutes, takes 1.5 hours. After arriving at Huangliu Town, take private Liuzhou minivan near Huangliu Town station to Jianfeng Town, leave at any time, takes 40 minutes, and the fare is 4 yuan.

2. Starting from Haikou: there is a shuttle bus to Jianfengling at the long-distance west station in Haikou province. The departure time is 08:30, 10:30 and 11:45 respectively. It takes 4.5 hours and the ticket price is 49 yuan. Return to Haikou and get on at the gate of Agricultural Bank of Jianfengling town at 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30.

After arriving at Jianfeng Town, there is a bus to the gate of mountain park and Tianchi every day. It usually leaves at 10:00, and the return journey starts from Tianchi at 07:00 the next day. If you can't catch the bus, you can also rent a "fengcaiche" or "moti" from the town.

Fengcaiche: Hainan county and township's main means of transportation, similar to the mainland's three wheeled motorcycle.
