Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications is jointly built by the people's Government of Shaanxi Province and the Ministry of industry and information technology. It is located in the historical and cultural city of Xi'an. It is an ordinary university with the characteristics of information science and technology and the coordinated development of engineering, management, science, economics, liberal arts, law and arts. It is the only University of Posts and telecommunications in Northwest China, the University of "excellent engineer education and training plan" implemented by the Ministry of education, the selection and training base for reserve officers of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, and the first batch of Pilot Universities in China Colleges and Universities Running preparatory classes for the children of frontier soldiers. School history

Northwest School of Posts and telecommunications, Xi'an school of Posts and Telecommunications period

At the beginning of 1950, China entered a period of comprehensive economic recovery. In order to rapidly develop the people's Posts and telecommunications industry, it is urgent to cultivate post and telecommunications business management and technical personnel. The northwest post and telecommunications administration set up the Shaanxi post and Telecommunications personnel training class and Gansu Post and Telecommunications personnel training class.

On April 1, 1952, the northwest post and Telecommunications Administration decided to merge the training classes for post and Telecommunications personnel in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces and formally establish the northwest post and Telecommunications School.

On June 1, 1953, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications changed the name of Northwest post and Telecommunications School to Xi'an Post and Telecommunications School.

The period of Xi'an post school

On May 1, 1955, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications changed the name of Xi'an Post and Telecommunications School to Xi'an Post and Telecommunications School, which was officially listed in the series of national technical secondary schools, and transferred cadres to establish Xi'an Service school.

On May 1, 1958, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided to abolish Xi'an newspaper school, merge it into Xi'an post school, add telecommunication specialty, and change its name to Xi'an Post and Telecommunications School.

From 1953 to 1958, western post got great development and became a post and Telecommunications secondary school with post and telecommunications management as the main and compatible with telecommunications technology, which provided a large number of talents for Northwest post and telecommunications enterprises. The school strengthened practical teaching and took over Xiaozhai post and Telecommunications Bureau and Lintong post and Telecommunications Bureau as practice bases, which achieved good results.

Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications

On March 16, 1959, with the approval of the State Council, Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications was officially established. The major is cable communication engineering, radio communication engineering, physics teachers and so on. On September 7 of the same year, the first batch of 200 undergraduates enrolled. The college carries forward the spirit of self-reliance, combines local and foreign resources, self-made equipment, and carries out industrial production. It has successively established four workshops of metalworking, electrician, cable and wireless, producing roof filters, neon light small exchangers and other products, with an output value of more than 400000 yuan. At the same time, the college also carries out scientific research evaluation, and has completed 102 scientific research projects, of which the thermistor has reached the domestic advanced level at that time.

On May 22, 2000, the signing ceremony of land acquisition for Chang'an new campus was held. On October 10 of the same year, the college signed a construction contract with Chang'an government, and the construction of new western post was put on the agenda. In May 2002, the new leading group of the college was established, with Du Ping as the Secretary of the Party committee and Tian Dongping as the vice president.

In 2003, the new campus was officially put into use, with nearly 4000 freshmen living in the new campus. In the second half of 2004, the main body of the hospital moved to Chang'an campus.

In July 2003, the Committee of the State Council approved that Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications has the qualification of master's degree authorization, and the school running level of Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications has stepped to a new level.

In 2004, the college began to recruit graduate students.

In 2006, the college was awarded the title of "civilized campus" by Shaanxi provincial Party committee and Shaanxi people's government. In 2007, it won the title of "running school according to law" at the provincial level.

In September 2011, it was selected into the second batch of excellent engineer education and training plan universities of the Ministry of education.

Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications

On March 29, 2012, the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China issued a letter No. 54 "letter of the people's Government of Shaanxi Province on the establishment of Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications" to approve the name change of Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications as "Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications".

On May 6, 2012, Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications officially renamed "Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications" and the listing ceremony was held at the north gate of Chang'an campus of Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications.

In January 2013, he was selected into the National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program.

On July 29, 2016, Shaanxi Provincial People's government and the State Post Office signed a contract to jointly build the modern postal college and postal Research Institute of Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications. On December 20, Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications's modern postal college and postal Research Institute were officially established.

In May 2017, Xi'an University of Posts and telecommunications, Northwest University, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an Foreign Studies University and Northwest University of political science and law jointly established the "Chang'an alliance" of Shaanxi universities.

In March 2018, it was selected into the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of education.
