Tianhou Temple

On Lamma Island, not far from rongshuwan, the construction year of Tianhou temple can not be tested. But it's strange that a pair of stone lions in front of the door are of western style! It turned out that when the temple was rebuilt in 1960, there was no stone lion export in the mainland during the cultural revolution. So they found a stonecutter on the island who was good at carving Western-style lions. They realized that Western-style lions were no harm, so they created a combination of Chinese and western.

It is said that Tin Hau (also known as Mazu) is the patron saint of fishermen, so Tin Hau Temple is a common temple in Hong Kong fishing villages. The Tin Hau Temple on Lamma Island has a long history. Its construction dates back to 1870 or earlier. When you visit Tianhou temple, don't forget to see the ancient whale bones displayed in the temple.

Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay is located near the road entrance of Tin Hau Temple in the east of Causeway Bay. It was built in the mid-18th century and was formerly known as the red incense burner temple in Yanchuan Bay. The red tile and blue tube on the top, the Dragon carving on the ridge of the beam, and the stone lion incense table in front of the temple all have a traditional flavor. It is one of the oldest and largest temples in Hong Kong. Originally known as the red incense burner temple in yanchuanwan. There is a word "Tongzhi seven years" on the stone beam outside the gate of the temple, which still retains the basic appearance of Tongzhi seven years (1868). There are two stone lions in front of the gate, and four big temples named "ancient temple of heaven after heaven" are carved on the banner of the gate. The Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay was built by the Dai family in the early 18th century. The Dai family used to mow on the shore of Causeway Bay. It is said that some of the members found a statue of empress in the stone cluster on the bank and made a sacrifice for it. As more and more fishermen came to Shangxiang, the Dai family built a formal temple for the queen of heaven. The temple was listed as a statutory monument in 1982 and is still managed by the Dai family.
