Build the museum into a civilian National Museum with professional characteristics, Hangzhou characteristics and canal characteristics, integrating collection, research, exhibition, education, publicity, entertainment, shopping and other functions, and strive to build it into a national thematic museum with "domestic leading and world-class". Sword, umbrella and fan belong to the material culture of human civilization. They are the inventions of human beings in order to better adapt to nature, increase behavior ability and improve the quality of life. The construction area of the exhibition hall of the Chinese sword, scissors and sword museum is 2460 square meters, and the construction area of the temporary exhibition hall is 1060 square meters.

Development history

It is reconstructed from Qiaoxi local products warehouse (provincial cultural relics) and is funded by Hangzhou municipal government to build three national special museums. They not only have the material appearance for observation and appreciation, but also gradually accumulate the connotation of spiritual culture in the process of long-term manufacture and use, and become the cultural carrier reflecting the wisdom, emotion and aesthetics of the people of the past dynasties. Choosing to build three national museums in Hangzhou is inseparable from the advantages of Hangzhou's traditional handicraft industry. Hangzhou people are familiar with Zhang Xiaoquan, Wang Xingji, Xihu silk umbrella and other product brands, which have been listed in the list of national intangible cultural heritage representative works. They stand out in the historical accumulation and have nationwide influence. They are representative brands in the handicraft age. Their history and technology are ideal cases for in-depth elaboration of China's knife and scissors industry, fan industry and umbrella industry. In order to protect and develop Hangzhou's outstanding intangible cultural heritage, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government made a decisive decision, combined with the implementation of the canal comprehensive protection project, to select the site for the construction of China Sword Museum, China Fan Museum and China Umbrella Museum in the west of Gongchen bridge of the canal.

On January 23, 2008, China Light Industry Federation approved the naming of the three museums as "state-owned brands", and proposed that the design scheme, functional orientation and exhibition form of the museums should highlight the characteristics and level of national level pavilions, so as to achieve the level of "leading in China and first in the world".

On March 8, 2008, the general office of the municipal Party committee and the general office of the municipal government jointly issued a document to establish the Advisory Committee, the leading group and the preparatory headquarters of the Chinese sword and sword Museum, the Chinese Fan Museum and the Chinese umbrella Museum. The members include not only the president of China Light Industry Federation, municipal leaders, functional organizations and experts in various disciplines and industries, but also relevant enterprise personnel.

On June 20, 2008, the venue layout plan of "two in one" was determined.

At the end of September 2008, Professor Yan Jianqiang, director of the Museum Department of Zhejiang University, presented the planning outlines of the three museums.

In early October 2008, the museum exhibition design bidding was officially launched.
