Yancheng National Rare Bird Nature Reserve

Coastal beach rare bird National Nature Reserve is located in the coastal areas of Sheyang, Dafeng, Binhai, Xiangshui and Dongtai counties (cities) in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, covering an area of 453000 hectares. It was established as a provincial nature reserve in 1984 and promoted to the national level in 1992. In the same year, it joined the UNESCO International "man and biosphere" reserve network. The main protected objects are the beach wetland ecosystem and a variety of rare birds represented by Red Crowned Crane. Facing the Yellow Sea, the area is formed by the sediment deposited in the ancient Yellow River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta under the impact of waves and tides in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea. The coastal beach is 444 km long, which is a typical representative of the muddy plain coast. There are many rivers in the area, marshes and wetlands are developed, biological resources are rich, and the ecosystem of the core area is basically in the original state. There are 315 species of birds, including 9 species under the first class protection and 33 species under the second class protection. There are about 800 red crowned cranes wintering here every year, which is the largest wintering place for red crowned cranes in the world, and also an important breeding place for the international endangered species black Headed Gull. There are also a large number of national second-class protected animals in the area, with the largest number in China. The establishment of Yancheng Nature Reserve is of great significance to the protection and research of migratory rare birds such as Red Crowned Crane. Accommodation: there is no place for tourists to stay in the scenic spot. You can drive to Sheyang county or stay in the surrounding towns. There are family hotels. Transportation: there is a shuttle bus there, but the time is not accurate. You'd better take your own car or rent a car in the county
