Old Anhui Provincial Museum

Anhui Provincial Museum is a provincial comprehensive museum in China. Located in Anqing Road, Hefei City, Anhui Province. In April 1953, preparations were made on the basis of the merger of Hefei Science Museum, Wanbei culture and Management Commission, Wuhu Science Museum and Wannan cultural relics museum, which was officially established on November 14, 1956. The building area of the exhibition building is 11580 square meters, and the cultural relics warehouse is 4156 square meters. There are 104684 cultural relics in the collection, including bronze, pottery, porcelain, gold, silver, jade, currency, calligraphy and painting, folk custom, brick and stone carvings, four treasures of the study, revolutionary cultural relics and cultural relics in the period of socialist construction. Among them, there are 109126 ancient books (including more than 8000 rare books) and 135 first-class collections. Among the most distinctive items in the collection are Shang and Zhou bronzes unearthed in Anhui over the years. For example, the lotus pot unearthed from the tomb of marquis CAI in Shouxian county is 80 cm in height, with a hollow lotus shaped top, symmetrical animal shaped ears on the neck and four animal shaped feet. It is a rare art treasure in the spring and Autumn period. The Chu tripod unearthed from the tomb of King Chu in Shouxian county is 113 cm in height and 87 cm in diameter It is the largest and heaviest tripod since the Zhou Dynasty, second only to the Simuwu tripod of the Shang Dynasty unearthed in Anyang, Henan Province in 1939. Among the Ancient Porcelains collected in the museum are blue and white porcelain vases and bowls unearthed from the tomb of the second year of Yuanyou (1087) of the Northern Song Dynasty in Susong County in 1963. The vases are 20.2 cm high and the bowls are 13.9 cm high. They are rare masterpieces of Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain and precious standard utensils of the Song Dynasty. Iron painting is one of the traditional Chinese arts and crafts, with a three-dimensional sense and unique artistic style. The collection of the painting of Lu crab by Liang zaibang, a famous iron painter in the early Qing Dynasty, is the representative work of iron painting.
