Osmanthus fragrans Garden

Built in October 1998, covering an area of 16.5 hectares, it is located in the southeast corner of Suzhou ancient city, adjacent to the booming industrial park. It is surrounded by the ancient canal in the East and by the green water of the Grand Canal in the south. It is one of the key landscapes in the construction of the scenic belt around the ancient city of Suzhou in recent years. Along the southern part of the Yunhe River, there are the ancient city "snake gate" and the 218 meter long Gusu water and land city building. The two kilometer long Wanyan winding path shuttles along the canal in the dense trees of Liuyin Green Island. The broad lawn and natural comfort fully show the characteristics of the water town in Jiangnan City. It is the best place for citizens to relax, walk and view. Osmanthus fragrans park is named after Osmanthus fragrans, the city flower of Suzhou. The flower shrubs in the garden are mainly evergreen plants, with more than 260 species, including some rare and precious species. Especially with the characteristics of Osmanthus species, the garden is rich in Osmanthus varieties and quantity, ranking first in China. It is the specialized garden with the largest number of Osmanthus fragrans varieties collected and planted in China. In order to build a special garden of Osmanthus varieties and support the development of "international registration right of Osmanthus varieties", under the guidance and help of Professor Qibai and Professor zangdekui from Nanjing Forestry University, the park organized people to go south to Shanghai, Hangzhou, eastern Zhejiang and Western Zhejiang, and traveled to more than ten counties in Southeast Sichuan, climbing mountains and rivers, looking for some well-known and unknown people The famous varieties, such as Jiulonggui, yichuanhong and Xuegui, are rare except in Guihua park.
