Chingshui Cliff

Qingshui cliff refers to the section of Suhua highway and Renzhi Chongde, about 12 kilometers long. This section of the road is winding, facing the cliffs and the shore. The landscape is breathtaking and magnificent. It is the most beautiful place on the Suhua highway. The mountains here go directly to the Pacific Ocean. The cliffs formed by the sea of gneiss and marble stretch for about 21 kilometers. The scenery is very spectacular and is listed as one of the eight wonders of Taiwan.

Chingshui Cliff

Qingshui cliff, located in the north of Hualien County, is a large rock cliff connected by Chongde, Qingshui and Heping mountain cliffs. It stretches for 21 kilometers. The geology is dominated by gneiss and marble. It is inserted into the Pacific Ocean at a 90 degree angle, and the height is more than 800 meters. The shape of the cliff is like a scabbard, the cliff is extremely steep, and the white waves are towering at the foot. It is the sea cliff area on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean. Qingshui cliff is the second largest cliff in the world. Su Hua highway, built in the middle of the cliff, appears intermittently under the barrier of these tunnels, and below the cliff is the vast Pacific Ocean.

Qingshui cliff is located in the east coast of Taiwan Province, northeast of Hualien County, on the Hualian su'ao highway (Suhua highway) between Liwu Xikou and daqingshui Xikou. It is mainly a 12 km long section from Helin to Chongde. This section of highway is winding and close to the cliff. It is the most breathtaking and magnificent representative landscape of Suhua highway and one of the eight wonders of Taiwan.

The reason for the name

Feitianpan mountain, Qingshui mountain, Qianliyan mountain and Liwu mountain are all crystalline limestone, with cliffs and cliffs. Among them, the South Cliff of Qingshui mountain is particularly steep, and it is located in the middle line of the whole line, so Qingshui cliff gets its name. The cliff, hundreds of meters high, is formed by a large fault on the east side of the central mountains. Overlooking the cliff, you can see a vast expanse of blue waves; overlooking, you can see the waves, which are breathtaking.

Tourism information

The Suhua highway, which connects Ilan County and Hualien County, is 118 kilometers long and is famous for its construction along the fault coast. Along the road, apart from the cliffs and rocks, there are also the magnificent scenery of ripping shore and vast expanses of blue sea. From Hualien City to the north, yueliwu River to Chongde village is the starting point of the dangerous road in the south. Passing Chongde, the car has white waves in the Pacific Ocean on the right, and a big cliff on the left. Road twists and turns, many tunnels, the famous "Chongde tunnel" is the entrance of Qingshui cliff.

After passing the Chongde tunnel, we can see that the Suhua highway was built by cutting the wall. A groove seems to be inlaid on the cliff waist hundreds of meters high from the sea. It twists and turns with the uneven rock wall protruding to the sea and hovers like a dragon. Looking at the road from a distance, it looks like a belt around the waist of a dangerous cliff, or a balcony corridor without railings in the high-rise of a skyscraper. If the car flies on it, it will roll into the Pacific Ocean hundreds of meters below. The people who take the bus skim the cliff and soar in the air, and watch the tide near the sea, which is very soul stirring. After passing Qingshui cliff, through a number of tunnels, you will arrive at Heping Station. Then to the north, you will see the north section of Suhua highway, which leads to Suao fishing port.

From Ilan to Hualien, from Heping out of the 900 meter long Heping tunnel, the cliffs are already in sight, and then through the Hezhong and Huren tunnels, you can see the Qingshui cliffs, which are stacked in layers and extend to the distance. As long as you cross the peace tunnel, you can see the road hanging in mid air, with layers of cliffs and cliffs connected. Along the way, it is full of gneiss and marble, and the magnificent landscape is awe inspiring. Walking on this road may not feel afraid, but when you finish this road and look back, you will realize the danger along the way. From Heping to Chongde, many new tunnels have been built, which is not as exciting as before. Taroko park has tourist areas at the north entrance of Chongde tunnel, xiaoqingshui, park boundary monument, etc.

Whether standing on the viewing platform or following the trail to the beach, Suhua highway is like an air corridor that can't reach the sky or the ground. It's inlaid on the ferocious marble cliff. When you watch this wonder, you can't help but admire the vastness of nature and the courage of human beings. The cliffs are composed of gneiss and marble. They are hard and not easy to be weathered and collapsed. For thousands of years, they stand on the east coast of the island, like a strong barrier against the invasion of the Pacific Ocean, and like a brave sentry guarding the beautiful rivers and mountains of the island. Among them, the South Cliff of Qingshui station in Qingshui Shandong is particularly steep. The cliff faces the sea for 5 kilometers, which is spectacular.
