Shanghai Automobile Museum

Shanghai Automobile Museum is the first professional Automobile Museum in China, displaying nearly 70 classic models since the birth of automobiles, with a time span of more than 100 years. Located in the Expo Park of Shanghai International Automobile City, Shanghai Automobile Museum is composed of five parts: History Museum, Technology Museum, brand Museum, Antique Car Museum and temporary exhibition hall. At present, the first phase of Shanghai Automobile Museum includes history museum and Antique Car Museum.

Shanghai Automobile Museum

Shanghai Automobile Museum is located in the automobile exhibition park of Anting, Jiading, Shanghai. It was officially opened to the public in January 2007.

The venue covers an area of 11700 square meters, with a building area of 27985 square meters, a building height of 32.45 meters and a total exhibition area of about 10000 square meters.

There are four exhibition areas with different functions in the Automobile Museum, including the history museum, the Collection Museum, the exploration Museum and the temporary exhibition area. Shanghai Automobile Museum has more than 20 classic antique cars of representative and contribution significance.

Historical evolution

On October 24, 2006, Shanghai Automobile Museum was officially completed.

On January 18, 2007, Shanghai Automobile Museum was officially opened.

In 2008, the auto discovery Pavilion began to be built.

In October 2009, the construction of automobile exploration hall was completed and passed the acceptance of science and Technology Commission.

According to its different functions, the internal space of Shanghai Automobile Museum is divided into five parts: History Museum, Collection Museum, exploration Museum, conference leisure area and temporary exhibition area, with a total exhibition area of about 10000 square meters.

History Museum

The history museum is located on the first floor of Shanghai Automobile Museum. With the development of automobile history as a clue, the history museum integrates all important stages of automobile development into eight theme exhibition halls, including preface hall, exploration and birth, practicality and mass production, streamline and speed, variety and brilliance, sports and driving, energy saving and electronics, and China automobile industry. Through more than 20 selected classic representative vehicles, the history museum can be divided into four parts And the introduction of important events, showing the development process of the world's automobile, reflecting the great impact of automobile on the development of human society.

Collection Hall

The museum is located on the second floor of Shanghai Automobile Museum. It took four months to renovate and upgrade from the museum's Original Antique Car Museum. The exhibition area of the new museum is nearly 2000 square meters, which was opened to the public in April 2014. The exhibition space includes seven sections, including "boiling age", "golden age", "all the way", "swaying car shadow", "mini charm" and "national dream" and "legend car". The exhibits cover nearly 40 precious antique cars produced in the past 100 years.

Museum has a complete range of antique car model series, 1 / 8 super large scale model, body details are exquisite. A series of more than 30 antique refueling equipment exhibits are distributed in all corners of the exhibition hall, from the hand pump produced in the 1910s, to the glass cylinder pump that can monitor the quality of oil products in the 1920s, the refueling trolley that can provide door-to-door service, and then to the clock type metering pump in the 1930s, showing the historical changes of automobile refueling stations.

Discovery Pavilion

The car Discovery Museum is located on the third floor of the museum.

With the support of the special fund of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, the automobile exploration museum is built by automobile experts, exhibition experts and relevant educators. The auto Discovery Museum started to be built in 2008. It was completed in October 2009 and accepted by the science and Technology Commission. It was completed and officially opened to the public on December 18, 2009.

The exhibition area of the auto discovery hall is about 2000 square meters. It is divided into three functional areas: basic knowledge of automobile, automobile design and automobile manufacturing, and entertainment experience. There are more than 10 physical and mechanical demonstration exhibition items, and more than 20 multimedia interactive experience exhibition items. It systematically and richly expounds the automobile structure, power, safety, comfort and automobile future for visitors. Among them, more than ten exhibition items and game items, such as car imagination theme exhibition, Carrara simulation fast track, auto parts demonstration, automobile design and manufacturing factory, automobile simulation driving, intelligence competition field, let the audience walk into the world of automobile science and technology knowledge.

Venue features

"The communication and fusion of space, the penetration and exchange of vision" is the essence of the architecture of Shanghai Automobile Museum, and also a challenge to the traditional Automobile Museum. The internal flow and up and down through the shared space make the viewer space in the museum get the greatest degree of visual communication. The terraces and roof platforms at different levels enable visitors to have the most space to communicate with nature. The facade of the building adopts a large area of transparent glass, so that visitors can enjoy the natural landscape of the peripheral park to the greatest extent. At the same time, the architectural form adopts a large number of flowing curves, which symbolizes the movement track of the car at high speed, has a strong sense of modernity, and reflects the sports theme of the Automobile Museum;

Collection

Shanghai Automobile Museum is a representative and significant contribution of more than 20 brands of classic antique cars. Among them, the first car in the world and some of the first cars in China. Five national cars: Ford T, Citroen 2CV, Volkswagen Beetle, Fiat 500, Toyota corolla; Shanghai Automobile Museum displays a number of national cars from the United States, Germany, France, Italy and Japan.

On April 29, 2018, Shanghai Automobile Museum held a cross-border exhibition.

On September 26, 2019, Shanghai Automobile Museum will hold "national automobile life exhibition".
