Xiaoputuo, Dongqianhu, Ningbo

Xiaoputuo, also known as Xiayu, is located in the center of Dongqian Lake in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the main scenic spots of Dongqian Lake Tourist Resort, with profound cultural heritage. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Xiayu temple and Guanyin cave were built on the island. According to the records of Zhejiang Tongzhi and Yinxian Tongzhi, Ye Shi Hao's mother believed in Buddhism and Avalokitesvara. She had long wanted to go to Putuo Mountain in the South China Sea to offer incense. Because she was old and blind, it was very inconvenient to cross the sea. Shi Hao summoned local famous craftsmen to dig a hole here and set up Guanyin Taoist temple. Dongcheng welcomes his mother on the boat. The sailboat is adrift in Dongqian Lake. Listening to the sound of the waves and the wind, it's like sailing in the sea. Three days later, when I went to Xiayu, I lied to Putuo Mountain, the "Buddhist kingdom in the South China Sea". I realized my mother's great wish. From then on, there was the saying of "little Putuo".

The main scenic spots are as follows:

Butuo Cave: also known as Guanyin cave, it is a Southern Song Dynasty grotto with a history of more than 800 years. The cave is more than 40 meters long and about 3 meters wide. In the cave, there are carved stone statues of Guanyin and Buddhist niches, which are full and smooth, showing the superb craftsmanship of ancient craftsmen.

Qiandi Yanbo: it is located at the entrance of the scenic area, facing Taogong island across the river in the west, and integrating with the lake embankment in the East. The Central boulder is engraved with Guo Moruo's inscription "Xizi charm, Taihu Lake spirit".

Tao Gong diaoji: it is said that in the spring and Autumn period, Fan Li, a senior official of the state of Yue, changed his name to Tao Zhu Gong and lived in seclusion with Xi Shi at the Bank of Dongqian Lake and the foot of Funiu Mountain. Later generations changed Funiu Mountain to Taogong mountain and called the place where Fan Li often went fishing in the lake "Taogong diaoji".

Qingfengxianggui: next to the entrance of the scenic spot, there is a hundred year old osmanthus tree, with a crown of tens of square meters, three connected branches, and a diameter at breast height of 20-25 cm. In the golden autumn season, the wind blows cool and the fragrance of Osmanthus bursts here, so it is called "fragrant osmanthus".

Chenghu bright moon: originated from the meaning of "clear lake and bright moon", it is located in the middle of the dike in the center of the lake, which is the best place to enjoy the moon in the center of the lake.

Xiayu Suolan: it's named after the cloud and haze on the island. The water here is steaming and foggy. Xiayu appears and disappears in the lake. It seems that the fog has locked the island, so it is called "Xiayu Suolan".

Shanseng Hubo: located in the east of Xiayu Island, facing Baiji ridge across the lake. It is an ideal place for ships to dock. In the old days, it was Xiayu ferry. Every time a monk went out, he called a boat here, so it was called "mountain monk Hubo".

Erling mountain stands out from Dongqian Lake. There are erling temple and erling pagoda built in Northern Song Dynasty. Whenever the sun goes down, the rays cross the ten holes of the erling pagoda, and the shadow of the pagoda is reflected in the lake. This is one of the "ten sceneries of Qianhu".
