Putian Museum

Putian museum is located in the east of Shouxi Park, Licheng North Avenue, Putian City, Fujian Province. The construction started in November 2011. It was designed by the Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University. The appearance of the whole museum is like a wishful handle. Putian museum was first located in 1986 in Dongyue hall, the vice Hall of Sanqing hall in Putian City. The original site was Guqiao building.

In September 2017, the new Putian museum was pre opened.

As of February 2017, Putian museum is mainly divided into a main museum and a sub Museum, covering an area of 23.3 mu, with a building area of 28800 square meters and an exhibition area of 13600 square meters. The estimated total investment is 288 million yuan. There are five special exhibition halls and temporary exhibition halls, including Putian history and Mazu culture.

In May 2013, Putian museum was rated as a national third level museum.

Historical evolution

In 1986, Putian museum was first located in Dongyue hall, the vice Hall of Sanqing hall in Putian City.

In May 2002, Putian City merged with Putian County Museum and moved to Guqiao building.

In April 2011, the collection of cultural relics of the new Putian museum was launched.

In November 2011, the construction of the new site of Putian museum was started, led by the Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University.

In 2013, the new Putian museum was capped.

In February 2017, the main body of the new Putian museum was completed.

On September 19, 2017, the new Putian museum was pre opened, with nearly 500 precious cultural works on display in the first "collection of cultural relics exhibition" and "Putian painting and calligraphy art exhibition of past dynasties".

Collection summary

Putian Museum has a collection of more than 10000 pieces of cultural relics, including ceramics, bronze, jade, bamboo and wood carvings, stone tools, calligraphy and painting, etc., with a complete range of categories, including 1378 precious cultural relics above grade III. The collection of more than 200 pieces of Mazu cultural relics, represented by the astronomical map of Ming Dynasty and Guoshi of Qing Dynasty, is the material for Putian to build the world Mazu cultural center. He Xiangning, a revolutionary calligrapher and painter, Wu Peifu, Xu Shichang, Zheng Xiaoxu, a puppet Prime Minister of Manchuria, Chen Baochen, an old man of Qing Dynasty, Wu daiqiu, Feng Chaoran, Hu Heng, Wang mengbai, Gao Jianfu, a representative of Shanghai landscape painting school, and Xu Beihong, Pan Tianshou, Huang Binhong, Zhang ShanMa More than 300 of them are of great value to the study of the history of modern Chinese painting and calligraphy.

Putian museum is located in the east of Shouxi Park in Putian, covering an area of 23.3 mu, with a building area of 28800 square meters and an exhibition area of 13000 square meters.

The appearance of Putian museum is like "Ruyi" in Mazu's hands, representing Putian, the "hometown of Mazu", and also symbolizing good luck.

Putian museum is designed by the Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University. The main building is composed of a four storey main hall and a four storey auxiliary hall. The main hall and the auxiliary hall are connected by steel bridge corridor, which is a major feature.

Putian Museum has six special topics and five temporary exhibition halls, including Putian historical and cultural exhibition, Putian folk culture exhibition, modern famous calligraphy and painting art exhibition, Putian wood carving art exhibition, Mazu culture and Maritime Silk Road Exhibition, and collection cultural relics exhibition.

Collection of cultural relics exhibition

Putian museum's art collections with artistic value and representativeness and reflecting the historical and cultural style of the Chinese nation are displayed in four parts: "the beauty of porcelain", "the spirit of jade", "the weight of bronze" and "the skill of bamboo and wood".

Putian folk culture exhibition

The exhibition of Putian folk culture takes the year and season customs as the main line, and runs through Xinghua's worship of heaven and earth, belief in gods, life etiquette, clothing, food, housing and transportation, year and season festivals, farming and fishing, business travel, economy and trade, religious beliefs and other customs, showing the profound connotation and prominent characteristics of Putian folk culture.

Putian history and Culture Exhibition

Putian's historical and cultural exhibitions are six major themes, namely, the pioneering of Puyang, the people's entry into Putian, Hulan City, Haisi Town, famous literature state, and the flood of central Fujian.

Mazu culture and Maritime Silk Road

In the exhibition hall of Mazu culture and Maritime Silk Road, taking the origin of Mazu culture and overseas dissemination of Mazu culture as the content, it tells the story of Mazu's life saving for the people and Zheng He's voyages to the West in the Ming Dynasty.

Art exhibition of calligraphy and painting of modern masters

Temporary Exhibition

The Pearl of China

From September 27 to October 26, 2018, "the Pearl of China - Fujian Dehua porcelain exhibition" was displayed in the temporary exhibition hall on the first floor of hall a of Putian Museum. The exhibition selected more than 100 pieces of Dehua porcelain art treasures collected by Fujian folk custom museum and Nanyue Palace Museum.

The ethnic group of water in rainforest Banna -- folk custom exhibition of Dai nationality in Xishuangbanna

From March 31 to June 3, 2019, Xishuangbanna Dai Folk Custom exhibition, the ethnic group of water in rainforest Banna, will be displayed on the first floor of hall a. More than 130 exhibits are selected in the exhibition, covering Dai traditional skills, religious culture, intangible cultural heritage, daily production and life, etc.

In 2012, Putian museum was rated as the second level Museum of Fujian Province.

In May 2013, Putian museum was rated as a national third level museum.

Opening Hours

Every Tuesday to Sunday (summer) 9:00-17:30 (stop at 17:00) and (winter) 9:00-16:30 (stop at 16:00). It will be closed all day on Monday (except national holidays) and new year's Eve.

In case of major activities or maintenance of important equipment and facilities, Putian museum can close individual exhibition halls or temporarily close them according to needs, and the public will be informed at that time.

1. Visit area: Putian Museum basic display, temporary exhibition and public service area open to the outside world;

2. Preschoolers, the elderly and the disabled should be accompanied by adults;

3. Disheveled, drunk and mental patients are not allowed to enter the museum;

4. It is strictly forbidden to bring inflammable, explosive, controlled equipment and other dangerous goods, illegal goods and pets into the museum;

5. The items carried by the audience can be stored in the storage cabinet of the museum free of charge. Please take valuables with you. Drinks, food and other unnecessary items are not allowed to enter the exhibition hall;

6. Do not use flash or tripod to photograph cultural relics in the exhibition hall, and do not use photos for commercial and publishing purposes;

7. Consciously take good care of cultural relics, exhibition facilities, other public service facilities, flowers and trees, etc. in case of any damage, compensation shall be made according to the price and corresponding legal liabilities shall be borne;

8. Smoking, eating, noise, chasing, lying, spitting, littering and other uncivilized activities are strictly prohibited in the exhibition hall.
