The idea of building a large sculpture group

It is understood that Humen, as a famous cultural town with a long history, has no other good leisure places except Humen park. Humen Park, built in 2001, has an area of more than 700 mu, which makes the public feel empty and spacious. It has become a good place for outdoor sports and has no other characteristics. This seems to be incompatible with humen's rich cultural resources and profound historical and cultural heritage. For this reason, the decision-makers of Humen town government decided to build a large sculpture group in Humen Park several years ago, so as to reflect the long history and local folk customs of humen and inherit the excellent humanistic spirit of Humen.

According to a senior worker in Humen, a few years ago, the leaders of Humen Town Government specially solicited the opinions of relevant experts on the construction of large-scale sculpture group, and invited a design master from a Shanghai Design Institute to come and observe on the spot, and designed and issued the relevant scheme, but the scheme was not ideal enough, so it died prematurely.

Add celebrity statues

According to reports, in July 2013, the publicity, science and Education Office of Humen Town, together with well-known sculptors in Guangdong Province, once again conducted a field survey of Humen park. The preliminary plan for building a large sculpture group in Humen park will be launched in October 2013, and people of insight will be convened to discuss it. Suggestions from the public will also be solicited for improvement.

According to the introduction, the main objects of park sculpture are celebrities who display the humanistic spirit of Humen, such as Lin Zexu, Chen Liansheng and Chiang Guang Kun. They have stories showing Humen's history and culture, such as Humen's tobacco sales and Humen costumes, and the Humen folk's virtues and customs, such as Humen fishing songs, and destructed opium.
