Tianjin Medical College is an ordinary college which faces the national enrollment and college level. The school has more than 6000 students, including 5500 full-time students. It undertakes the task of on-the-job training for nearly 4000 health workers in Tianjin every year. At present, there are 5 affiliated hospitals including Tianjin People's Hospital, Tianhe hospital, Haihe hospital, Anding Hospital and stomatological hospital, 41 clinical teaching hospitals and practice training bases in Tianjin, and 18 clinical teaching practice training bases in other provinces and cities.

The school now has five departments: nursing, pharmacy, clinical medicine, Stomatology, public health and health management. Focusing on the construction of nursing specialty, it has many specialties and professional directions, such as nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, clinical medicine, Stomatology, acupuncture and massage, medical beauty technology, rehabilitation treatment technology, medical imaging technology, medical inspection technology, medical insurance, etc. In 2001 and 2002, the nursing specialty was designated as "national teaching reform pilot specialty" and "national high-quality specialty construction project" by the Ministry of education. The headquarters of the school is located in the beautiful Liulin scenic spot on the Bank of the Haihe River, covering an area of 410 mu, with a construction area of more than 100000 square meters. The newly built 32000 square meters main teaching building can meet the needs of 6000 students to study theoretical courses at the same time. The construction area of the experimental training base is 17000 square meters, equipped with modern teaching instruments and equipment, forming the basic laboratory of medicine and pharmacy, clinical demonstration classroom and simulation ward with different functions. The newly-built library covers a total area of nearly 8000 square meters, with 250000 paper and e-books and 478 kinds of newspapers and periodicals at home and abroad. As the only specialized Journal of CME in China, CME, as the chief editor of CME, is recommended by the Ministry of health as a teaching material for CME, which has a certain influence in China. In recent three years, the employment rate of all majors in Tianjin Vocational College is among the highest, and graduates are highly praised by employers.  

The school has a team of full-time and part-time teachers with excellent political and professional quality and rich teaching experience. At present, there are 103 professors and associate professors, and many medical and nursing experts with rich clinical experience are employed as part-time teachers.
