Youjiang Medical College for nationalities was founded in 1958 and upgraded to an undergraduate medical college in 1978. In 1982, it was granted the right to confer a bachelor's degree. In 2000, it obtained the qualification to recruit foreign students. In 2008, it was awarded the "excellent" conclusion of the undergraduate teaching level assessment by the Ministry of education. In 2009, it was determined to become a construction unit for a master's degree.
