Shangluo college is a multi-disciplinary undergraduate college directly under the Shaanxi Provincial Department of education. Its predecessor was "Shangluo College of Shaanxi Normal University" established in 1976. It was renamed "Shangluo normal college" with the approval of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government in 1984 and upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education in February 2006.

The college is located in Shangluo City, the hometown of famous writer Jia Pingwa and the ecological garden city in Southeast Shaanxi. It covers an area of 465 Mu and covers an area of 182226 m2. The total value of teaching equipment is 25.45 million yuan. There are 620000 paper books, 290000 e-books, more than 1100 paper periodicals and 4600 E-periodicals.

There are 463 faculty members in the college, including 319 full-time teachers and 118 with associate professor or above titles; 23 well-known experts and scholars such as Hou Xun, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Jia Pingwa, a famous writer, have been employed as part-time professors and 4 foreign teachers for a long time. At present, the college has 11 departments including politics and education, history, Chinese, English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering, computer science, art and sports, and 38 specialties. Among them, Chinese language and literature and applied electronic technology are excellent pilot specialties in Shaanxi Province. There are 5059 full-time students and 2000 adult education students.

With the continuous deepening of reform, the quality of education and teaching has been significantly improved. In recent years, he has presided over 15 provincial educational reform and scientific research projects, won 3 first prizes and 5 second prizes for excellent teaching achievements of Shaanxi Provincial People's government. Three provincial excellent courses have been built. In 2004 and 2005, the online rate of "college to undergraduate" unified examination ranked the first in the province. In 2006, 60.5% of the candidates went up in the "college to university" examination. In the 2005 and 2006 National College English competition, our students won the special prize and the first prize of "National College English competition (Grade B)".

The college has continuously strengthened its scientific research work, and its scientific research strength has been significantly enhanced. There are seven research institutions, including the Institute of quantum optics and quantum information, Jia Pingwa and Shangluo Cultural Research Institute, and gap research and Engineering Center. In recent years, it has undertaken 58 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and department level, obtained 3 national patents, and published 15 academic papers indexed by SCI and EI. According to the statistics of the science and technology development center of the Ministry of education in 2002, the number of CSCD papers published by the teachers of the Institute of quantum optics and quantum information of our university ranked 30 according to the number of citations of the authors' papers in Colleges and universities, and the number of citations reached 50. It was the only college among the top 30 universities in that year.

The college has always put moral education in the first place, accumulated certain experience, and has been affirmed by the superior organization. In particular, the practice of "three-level contact system" has been summarized and promoted by the provincial Party committee, the provincial government, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of education.
