Rock College is a provincial public and full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education. Its predecessor is Longyan Teachers College, which was founded in 1958. After half a century of development, it has become the only full-time undergraduate college on the red soil in Western Fujian.

The school is located in the beautiful city of Fujian, the western city of Longyan, known as the west of Fujian Province. It is located in the beautiful mountain of the Phoenix and the Phoenix Mountain. It is near the famous patriotic education base, the Gutian conference memorial hall, the national 4A scenic spot - Guan * Shan, the "world cultural heritage" - Yongding Hakka Earth Building. Longyan city is adjacent to Xiamen Special Economic Zone and South Fujian golden triangle open area. It is the transportation hub and logistics distribution center of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. It borders Ganzhou City in Jiangxi Province and Meizhou City in Guangdong Province, and has aviation, railway and expressway in all directions. It is a famous old area, forest area, overseas Chinese area, mining area and new tourist area.

The campus covers an area of 1058 mu, with a building area of 262000 square meters. The school has two campuses, Dongxiao campus and Fenghuang campus, with nine colleges (departments) and 7500 full-time students.

The school has more than 600 faculty members, including 25 professors and 122 associate professors. 58% of the teachers have graduate degree or above, including 1 doctoral supervisor and 11 master's supervisors. The school also employs more than 20 academicians of the two academies and famous University doctoral supervisors as part-time and visiting professors.

The school has excellent conditions and perfect teaching facilities. There are 75 laboratories of various types, all of which have passed the provincial evaluation of basic physics, chemistry and biology. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 50.8 million yuan. The library has a perfect campus network, computer teaching center, multimedia classroom, voice room, etc. the building area of the library is 25200 square meters, with a collection of more than 1 million books and materials, more than 2000 periodicals, an electronic reading room and a modern retrieval department Tonghe mirror site is the largest library and reference center in Western Fujian; the school has perfect sports facilities, various kinds of activity places, convenient and practical student apartments and fully functional canteen.

The school adheres to the talent training as the center, and the teaching quality, management level and scientific research ability are improved year by year. Since 2003, our university has won 3 provincial key disciplines, 2 provincial characteristic construction majors, 5 provincial and ministerial outstanding teaching achievement awards, 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 Provincial Key Laboratory (cultivation), 1 provincial humanities and social sciences research base (cultivation), 30 monographs and references published by teachers, more than 2000 academic papers published at home and abroad, and included by SCI, EI and SSCI There are more than 100 academic papers, 12 scientific research institutions such as Hakka Culture Research Institute, more than 200 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, and more than 40 government awards. Journal of Longyan University is an international standard serial publication, which is open to the public at home and abroad.

Since 1993, the university has set up a night University, and now it has two levels of Adult Education: undergraduate education and junior college education. It has more than 20 popular majors, which are open to the whole province. At the same time, our school has also jointly organized network education and adult correspondence education with Sichuan University, East China Normal University and Shandong University of science and technology, which has built a flyover from college to university for students in Higher Vocational Colleges and social personnel.
