Liaoning University of science and technology is located in Benxi high tech Industrial Development Zone, Liaoning Province. It is a provincial general undergraduate college with engineering as the main subject and multi-disciplinary development. The predecessor of the school is Benxi Metallurgy College, which was founded in 1948. It was upgraded to Benxi Iron and Steel College in 1958 and renamed Liaoning Institute of science and technology in May 2004. In 2015, the school was designated as the first pilot school in Liaoning province to be applied to change.
