Zhaoqing University is a public full-time comprehensive undergraduate university, founded in 1970.

The school is located in Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, the core area of the Pearl River Delta. It is located in the national key scenic spot Star Lake scenic area. The campus covers a total area of 1214.3 Mu and has a beautiful environment. It has been rated as "national greening model unit", "national afforestation 400 best unit", "civilized unit of Guangdong Province", and has been selected into 50 "National Graduate Employment typical experience universities" in 2012 , advanced school of comprehensive management of public security in Colleges and universities of Guangdong Province, garden unit of Zhaoqing City, etc.

The university has ten disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management and art, and 62 undergraduate majors, which are open to 21 provinces and cities, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Gansu, Hubei, Henan, Hebei, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Shandong, Yunnan, Shanxi, Jilin, Hainan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang Students, with the recruitment of foreign students and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan students.

At present, there are 22701 full-time students, 10390 correspondence students, 1422 teaching staff, one academician with "double employment", 113 professors with senior professional titles, 420 people with deputy senior professional titles, 209 people with doctor's degree and 542 people with master's degree. The team of high-level talents represented by Xijiang scholars is growing, and a group of famous experts and scholars at home and abroad are employed as visiting professors. It has one characteristic specialty approved by the Ministry of education, five provincial characteristic specialties, one provincial key supporting discipline, six provincial experimental teaching bases and seven provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers.

School hardware facilities are perfect. At present, there are more than 120 million yuan of teaching instruments and equipment, 1.443 million paper books, 2335 GB e-books, more than 1500 paper newspapers, more than 20000 pieces of audio-visual, CD-ROM and other materials in the school library, and more than 10 full-text databases such as China Digital Library, China Journal Network, SpringerLink have been opened.

The school takes teacher education as the foundation of the school, and has a number of non normal majors at the same time.
