Dalian Medical University was founded in 1947, formerly known as Kanto medical college. In 1950, it was renamed Dalian Medical University. In 1969, it moved to Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. In 1978, it was re established at the original site of Dalian Medical University. In 1994, it was renamed Dalian Medical University. The university has now developed into a medical university with the development of literature, science, management, law and other disciplines.

Dalian Medical University is located in the middle of the seaside sightseeing belt of Lushun South Road. The school covers an area of 1.5097 million square meters, with a building area of 380000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment worth 108 million yuan, 824900 books and 624400 e-books. The school has 26 party and government management institutions, 15 Teaching and auxiliary institutions, 6 directly affiliated institutions, 2 directly affiliated hospitals, 8 non directly affiliated hospitals and 134 practice teaching bases.

At present, there are more than 2700 doctoral and master's students, 7300 junior college students, and more than 1000 foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Multi slice spiral CT coronary artery imaging technology has reached the international leading level; catheter radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation has reached the domestic leading level; interventional therapy of coronary heart disease, early diagnosis of small liver cancer and small lung cancer, treatment of acute abdomen with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, treatment of joint diseases with holmium laser and arthroscopy, interventional therapy of pulmonary embolism, intravascular interventional therapy of cerebral vessels and organ transplantation The transplantation has reached the advanced level in China.
