Changsha Vocational and Technical College of communication was founded in 1958. It is a public and full-time college based on the former Hunan Post and Telecommunications School. It is subordinate to China Telecom Hunan company, and its education business is managed by Hunan Provincial Department of education. In 2003, it was rated as "civilized university" in Hunan Province, in 2005, it was rated as "excellent grade of talent training level evaluation of Higher Vocational Colleges" by the Ministry of education, and in 2008, it was rated as "advanced unit" of college enrollment in Hunan Province.

The college covers an area of 120700 square meters, with a total fixed assets of 130 million yuan, including more than 48 million yuan of experimental and practical equipment. With professional equipment synchronized with the communication industry, there are more than 40 experimental training rooms, including program-controlled switching, optical fiber communication, data communication, mobile communication (including 3G mobile communication equipment), communication power supply, computer communication, etc. The college is the training base of Hunan Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, the communication training base of Hunan infantry division of PLA Army Reserve, and the experimental and practical training demonstration base of Hunan communication technology. It can provide students with modern communication equipment synchronized with enterprises and real environment for network operation training.

The college adheres to the guiding ideology of "controlling scale and creating high-quality products", and adheres to the road of school enterprise cooperation and combination of production, learning and research. At present, there are more than 3600 full-time students in the school, including four departments: Communication Engineering Department, mobile communication department, computer information engineering department and communication management department. It has set up 15 characteristic specialties, including communication technology, optical fiber communication, mobile communication technology, computer communication, marketing, business management (post and Telecommunications Management), among which communication technology is the provincial excellent specialty, and communication technology, optical fiber communication and computer communication are the provincial teaching reform pilot specialty. With more than 50 years of successful experience in running a school, the college has formed a school running feature with communication as the main subject and coordinated development of computer and management majors.

With the rapid development of communication industry and the rapid improvement of communication technology, there is an urgent need for a large number of application-oriented talents who can understand technology, operate and maintain. With reasonable professional design, rigorous teaching organization, advanced teaching equipment and elegant teaching environment, the graduates trained by the college are favored by various communication enterprises, and the supply exceeds the demand year by year. A large number of graduates have been recruited to China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and other communication operation enterprises, ZTE, Huawei and other communication industry enterprises, and China Communications Service and other communication service enterprises. At present, they have become the backbone of all communication enterprises. With the vigorous development of the communication industry, the acceleration of the construction of communication infrastructure, the promotion of national economy informatization and public management informatization, after the reorganization of China's telecommunications industry, the wide application of 3G new technology, the social demand for professionals will be greater and greater, and the employment prospects of our graduates will be broader.
