Hubei Vocational and Technical College of light industry is a public full-time ordinary higher vocational and technical college directly under Hubei Education Department. The college was founded in 1956, formerly under the former Ministry of food industry of the people's Republic of China. In 1972, it was renamed "Hubei Light Industry School" and was subordinate to the first light industry bureau of Hubei Province. In 1987, it cooperated with the former Hans & amp; Seidel foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany to introduce the "dual system" teaching mode of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1996, it was approved by the Ministry of education to set up a five-year higher vocational college, Approved by the people's Government of Hubei Province, Hubei Light Industry Vocational and technical college was established, which was subordinate to Hubei light industry management office and transferred to Hubei Education Department in 2004.

The college covers an area of 163.4 mu, including 153.1 mu in mafangshan campus and 10.3 mu in Zhuodaoquan campus. The total construction area of the school is more than 110000 square meters, the total value of fixed assets is 120 million yuan (excluding land), and the total value of teaching equipment is more than 26 million yuan. It is used for 650 teaching computers, 23 multimedia classrooms, 2552 seats, and 388000 books (including e-books) in the library. At present, there are 398 in-service teaching staff, including 220 teachers, 195 full-time teachers, 65 teachers with associate professor or above titles, and 94 teachers with double quality.
