Yangquan vocational and Technical College (Yangquan College of Taiyuan University of Technology) is an ordinary college which is based on all kinds of work and has the disciplines of economics, management and law. Its predecessor is Yangquan Coal college, which is subordinate to the Education Department of Shanxi Province. Now the name of the undergraduate is Yangquan College of Taiyuan University of technology, and the name of the junior college is Yangquan vocational and technical college. The school is located in Yangquan, the east gate of Shanxi Province. It is located in Xueyuan Road, Yangquan economic and Technological Development Zone, with a planned land area of 1200 Mu and an existing building area of 190000 square meters.

The school has 10 teaching units: Department of resources, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of construction engineering, Department of information, Department of management, Department of economy and trade, Department of Social Sciences, Department of foundation, Department of sports and experimental training center. There are 11 undergraduate majors and 30 specialized majors, forming a distinctive and dynamic professional group. The school has a solid foundation, perfect teaching equipment and strong teaching staff. At the end of 2006, the level of talent training in higher vocational colleges was evaluated as excellent. There are 532 teaching staff, including 361 full-time teachers. Our university vigorously promotes the master's degree of teachers, with 45% of the total number of teachers with doctor's degree or master's degree or above, and 33% of the total number of teachers with senior professional title or above. A group of experts and scholars from Taiyuan University of technology are specially employed to teach in our university. The age, education background, professional title, knowledge and ability structure of teachers are reasonable. At present, there are more than 7600 undergraduate and junior college students, including more than 2000 undergraduates. It has a collection of more than 600000 books, with experimental equipment and training base matching with professional training requirements.

Our school attaches great importance to the quality education of students, and has obtained excellent results in many national and provincial competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" scientific and technological works competition, ranking in the forefront of similar colleges and universities in the province. In February 2009, our university was awarded the "KAB entrepreneurship education base for college students" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the all China Federation of students and the international labor organization, which is one of the two universities in Shanxi Province. According to the employment policy of "two-way choice and self employment" established by the state, students are employed by "double choice". Due to the school's students "fast job, available, stay", well received by employers, over the years, the one-time employment rate of graduates ranked in the forefront of similar colleges and universities in the province. This year, under the impact of the international economic crisis, most of our majors still maintain a good employment situation.
