Bohai shipbuilding vocational college, formerly affiliated to China Shipbuilding Corporation, is the only state-owned full-time higher vocational and technical college in northern China, which mainly cultivates high and intermediate professional and technical talents of shipbuilding industry, and is open to national enrollment. The college is located in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. It has three campuses, Longwan, Wanghai and Lianhua. The campus covers an area of 380000 square meters, with a building area of 140000 square meters. At present, there are more than 8000 students. The campus has beautiful environment and perfect facilities. It is an ideal home for students to study and develop.

Since its establishment, the college has taken the initiative to adapt to the needs of the development of China's shipbuilding industry, adjusted and optimized the professional structure facing the market, and opened 37 Higher Vocational Majors, among which the major of Ship Engineering Technology (ship power plant technology) is the national pilot major of Higher Vocational Education reform, ship engineering technology, power system automation technology (ship electrical direction) and marine engineering technology (ship power plant technology) The five major of Liaoning Province are brand (demonstration) major.

The structure of professional teachers is reasonable and the business is exquisite; all kinds of professional laboratories and training centers, campus network, computer center, multimedia classroom, voice room and other modern teaching equipment are advanced and facilities are perfect. Among them, electrical, electronic and automation training center and numerical control technology training center are national vocational education training bases. In June 2007, the Commission of science, technology and industry for national defense identified our college as "the first batch of construction units of vocational education and training base for national defense industry"; in December 2008, the Education Department of Liaoning Province identified our college as "the first batch of construction units of Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges in Liaoning Province". There are national computer level examination (training point), National English level examination (training point) and national vocational skill appraisal institute. The college is qualified to issue high, middle and primary vocational qualification certificates.

In June 2004, the college successfully passed the Ministry of education higher vocational college personnel training level evaluation, ranking first in Liaoning higher vocational college evaluation. For four consecutive years, the college has won the title of advanced collective of graduates' employment work in Liaoning Province, and has won many provincial and municipal honors, such as advanced unit of Ideological and political work in Liaoning Province, advanced unit of scientific research in Liaoning Province, advanced unit of employment work in Liaoning Province, etc. It has been continuously rated by China Education News and other media as one of the "top ten vocational colleges with comprehensive strength" in 2007 and "top ten employment models of national well-known vocational colleges" in 2008.
