Looking for diseases from eyeball changes

The eyeball is closely related to the human body, so we can find clues of many diseases through the changes of the eyeball.

(1) Prominent eyes: often caused by hyperthyroidism. In addition to exophthalmos, the patient also had palpitation and goiter. In addition, hypertension, tremor paralysis (Parkinson's disease), leukemia, hemophilia can also lead to exophthalmos; vitamin B, D deficiency can also cause mild exophthalmos.

(2) Unilateral exophthalmos: about 50% of patients with unilateral exophthalmos are caused by intracranial diseases, the most common of which is brain tumor, and may also be caused by retrobulbar tumor or nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

(3) Nystagmus: this may be a sign of liver disease.

(4) Xerophthalmia: mostly caused by lack of vitamin A. Lack of vitamin A in adults and children can make conjunctiva dry, dull and even blind. In addition, some patients with chronic hepatitis will suffer from Sjogren's syndrome, including xerophthalmia.

(5) Sunken eyeball: people who are severely emaciated will have sunken eyeballs. In addition, when the mood is extremely depressed, or suffering from cholera, dysentery, diarrhea, diabetes and dehydration, the eyeball will also sag.
