Shanxi College of mechanical and electrical technology was founded in 1958. It is located in Changzhi City, one of the top ten charming cities in China. It is located in Changzhi high tech Industrial Development Zone. It is located in the hub of Taijiao railway and Changtai, Changhan, Changjin expressway. It has superior location and convenient transportation.

The college covers an area of more than 400 mu, with a construction area of nearly 100000 square meters. It has built six on campus training centers, including "numerical control training center", including 54 experimental training rooms, more than 100 off campus "research, practice and employment bases", teaching equipment worth more than 24.8 million yuan, library collection of more than 286000 books, and sports venues of more than 18000 square meters. In 2004 and 2006, 21 teachers and students were selected to participate in the Shanxi competition of national numerical control skills competition, and 15 of them entered the national finals.
