Backbone Vocational Colleges of "National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Plan"

Liaoning Petrochemical Vocational and technical college, approved by Liaoning Provincial Government in 2002 (liaozheng [2002] No.12 document), implements the system of running a school jointly by Liaoning Provincial Department of education and PetroChina Jinzhou Petrochemical Company. It is the only college with college enterprise cooperation, work study combination and relying on industry advantages to cultivate higher technical applied talents. It is located in Jinzhou, a beautiful coastal city with convenient transportation and developed culture. Adhering to the motto of "rigorous, realistic, innovative and harmonious", the college adheres to people-oriented, moral education first, strict management, strengthening vocational ability training, improving students' comprehensive quality and building a harmonious campus. The college is an advanced unit of Ideological and political work in Liaoning Province. In 2006, it was rated as a safe and civilized campus by the College Working Committee of Liaoning provincial Party committee and Liaoning Provincial Department of education, and as a civilized unit by Jinzhou Municipal Party committee and municipal government.

At present, the college has nearly 450 teaching staff, more than 280 full-time teachers, more than 100 professors and associate professors (including senior engineers), more than 80 doctors and Masters (including students), and more than 4500 students.

The college has 30 specialties, including Department of petrochemical industry, Department of Applied Chemistry, Department of mechanical technology, Department of automation, Department of computer science, Department of applied foreign languages, Department of physical education and South District of the college. Petrochemical production technology major is a national professional teaching reform pilot major, and petrochemical production technology, industrial analysis and inspection, production process automation technology major is a provincial demonstration major. The major of computer application and software technology has been identified as a talent training project by the Ministry of education and other six ministries and commissions. "Polymer production technology" was rated as a national excellent course, "programmable controller", "refrigeration principle and equipment" was rated as a provincial excellent course. In the past four years, the college's teachers have participated in compiling more than 120 textbooks and published more than 260 papers at or above the provincial level.

The college has a practical teaching system consisting of virtual occupational environment and real occupational environment training, which takes the production workshops of PetroChina Jinzhou Petrochemical Company and other enterprises as the real occupational environment. The college invested 7.5 million yuan to build a training base in the western district. It has won nearly 9 million yuan from the central and provincial financial special investment, built CNC processing base, electrical and electronic automation training base, and five vocational skill appraisal stations (institutes). It is Jinzhou high skilled personnel training base and Jinzhou GSP employment training base.

Over the years, the college adheres to the service-oriented, employment oriented, and implements the "double certificate" system, which has transported a large number of highly skilled talents for the society. The college provides several times more jobs than the number of graduates every year to ensure that every student has the freedom and space to choose a career. It is rated as the provincial innovation unit of college graduates' employment, and listed as the key construction unit of high skilled talents training base by China National Petroleum Corporation.

Every year, the college provides scholarships set up by the state, the government and the school for students with excellent character and learning, and grants set up by the state, the government and the school for students with difficulties.
