Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute

Suzhou Polytechnic of Arts and crafts is the first Higher Vocational College of art and design established in China, formerly known as "Suzhou Polytechnic of Arts and crafts" founded in August 1958. In 1999, Suzhou arts and crafts school and Suzhou University of light industry and workers jointly established Suzhou arts and Crafts Vocational and technical college, becoming the first independent Higher Vocational College of art and design in China. In 2006, the college obtained excellent results in the evaluation of talent training level in higher vocational colleges. In 2007, it became one of the first batch of "Model Higher Vocational Colleges in Jiangsu Province". In 2010, it was identified as the "National Model Higher Vocational College Construction Plan" project construction college. In 2014, the national backbone college construction project of the college won the "excellent" level in the acceptance of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.

The college is located on the Bank of Shihu lake, the ancient Wu resort, and at the foot of the mountain above. Its long history and profound culture have created a good atmosphere for the growth of students. The campus covers an area of 561 mu, with a construction area of nearly 200000 square meters, more than 400 teaching staff and 5000 students. It has 18 majors and 54 small specialized directions in two major series of modern art design and traditional arts and crafts, forming a professional pattern of integrating multiple disciplines and attaching equal importance to traditional arts and crafts and modern art design. In addition, it has the key construction base for vocational education teacher training of China Academy of Arts and crafts and Ministry of education, the continuing education base for arts and crafts professionals of Jiangsu Province, the National Vocational Skill Appraisal Institute of art design and technology of Jiangsu Province, and Suzhou Taohuawu woodcut New Year Painting Society (Research Institute). The construction area of the college's training center is 45800 square meters, with 87 studios, including 2 national training bases, 5 provincial training bases and 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center.

Centering on the goal of cultivating high-quality skilled arts and crafts talents who are both virtuous and skillful, the college continuously deepens education and teaching reform, constructs service-oriented professional teaching system, carries out innovative practice of "studio system" talent training mode, and actively serves local modern service industry and cultural and creative industry. Guided by cooperative employment, the mode of cooperative education and the goal of cooperative development, we actively explore a new school enterprise cooperation mechanism of "four sides interaction, four in one, four links and four fixed". Based on tradition and modernity, we are committed to the protection and inheritance of Suzhou's traditional culture and folk crafts, and promote the inheritance and development of Suzhou Taohuawu woodcut New Year pictures, an intangible cultural heritage, to a new stage. Carrying cultural mission and reflecting responsibility. Through the "Experimental Zone for inheritance and innovation of Arts and crafts" and the China Research camp of the world arts and Crafts Council (Asia Pacific Branch), the intangible heritage of Taohuawu woodcut New Year pictures, Suzhou embroidery and Leishan Miao people are explored, inherited and researched. The college was named as the first batch of "research base of intangible cultural heritage in Jiangsu Province"; the professional teaching resource library of "baigonglu: Inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritage of Chinese arts and crafts" was funded by the Ministry of education. At present, there are 141 school enterprise cooperation units and 24 resident enterprises.

We should actively absorb the advanced western culture and pay attention to the exchange and cooperation with domestic and foreign art design colleges and cultural academic institutions. There are "Sino French Jiangsu art and Design Education Research Center" jointly established by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and Paris Education Bureau, and "Sino British Suzhou Art and Design Education Innovation Center" jointly established by the college and University of Southampton. At present, it has established cooperative relations with 20 universities in France, Britain, Japan, Canada and other countries. The results of personnel training are outstanding, and the situation of enrollment and employment is booming. We recruit students from 30 provinces and cities in China, with an annual enrollment scale of 1800 people. The employment rate of graduates has been maintained at more than 98%, and the satisfaction rate of enterprises has reached 98%. A large number of graduates start their own businesses. The college has won the "national key construction of vocational education teacher training base" demonstration unit, the "cradle of high skilled talents Award" awarded by Jiangsu provincial government, the "advanced school of international cooperation and exchange of education in Jiangsu Province", the outstanding contribution award of Suzhou high skilled talents training and other honors.
