Shandong Vocational College of foreign trade is subordinate to the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province. It is the first and only full-time higher vocational college specialized in foreign trade education in Shandong Province. The predecessor of the college is Shandong School of foreign economic relations and trade founded in 1964 and Shandong University of foreign economic relations and trade workers founded in 1984. In 1988, it began to recruit general college students. It is the first college of the same kind in Shandong Province to hold general college education. In the same year, Shandong University established the international trade major, and the first students were trained by our college. From 1992 to 2001, Qingdao university trained ten college students in international trade, foreign accounting, business English and other majors. In 1998, it became one of the first batch of Higher Vocational pilot schools in Shandong Province, Shandong Vocational College of foreign trade was established in 2002. In 2014, Shandong business technical school and Shandong Service Outsourcing Tai'an base were merged into the college. In 2015, Shandong Department of Commerce training center and Shandong Service Outsourcing Qingdao base were merged into the college. In 2016, the college established a Washington branch in the United States. At present, there are 11000 students.

All majors of the college are closely connected with the regional open economy and foreign-related high-end service industry, and have formed a distinctive "foreign" school running feature of foreign trade, foreign language, overseas transportation and outsourcing. At present, there are 24 majors, including international trade practice, software technology and logistics management, which are jointly trained with Yantai University, Qingdao University and Qufu Normal University to train "3 + 2" undergraduate students.
