Inner Mongolia Vocational College of architecture is a famous architectural vocational college with 61 years of school running history. It is the only independent architectural college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The predecessor of the college is Inner Mongolia architecture school, which was founded in 1956. In 1958, it was transformed into Inner Mongolia Architecture College, and held undergraduate education. In 1961, the system of technical secondary school was restored. From 1979 to 1989, four majors, six undergraduate classes and five specialized classes were recruited and trained. In 1994, it was rated as one of the six key construction technical secondary schools in China by the Ministry of education. In July 1999, it was upgraded to an ordinary university.

The college has 11 teaching units (including the "College of landscape ecological construction" under construction), with nearly 10000 full-time students. There are two campuses in the north and the south, covering an area of more than 1300 mu, with a total construction area of more than 200000 square meters and a total fixed assets value of 350 million yuan. It has a 18000 square meter training building with 78 training rooms, which can carry out productive training in construction, materials, measurement, decoration, heating, ventilation, heating, water supply and drainage, mechanical and electrical, etc.

The college has continuously deepened the cooperation between colleges and enterprises, and has built 152 off campus training bases and post practice bases in enterprises with high qualification level and strong development strength, such as China Second Metallurgical Corporation and Inner Mongolia Second Construction Co., Ltd.

Adhering to the responsibility of serving the development of national and regional construction, the college has trained more than 60000 construction talents at all levels over the past 61 years. They are all over the administrative departments and construction enterprises in the construction industry. They have become outstanding entrepreneurs, management talents and technical backbones. Every year, the college independently holds the meeting of supply and demand of graduates, and has established a stable employment relationship with more than 260 construction enterprises inside and outside the District, including large state-owned enterprises outside the district such as China Construction Second Bureau, forming a three-dimensional employment market. In the past five years, the one-time employment rate of graduates is more than 95%, and the follow-up employment rate within this year has reached 100%, ranking first in Higher Vocational Colleges in the autonomous region.

The college has a national grade a qualification of Architectural Survey and Design Institute, which integrates architectural engineering planning, design and consulting. In recent years, it has completed more than 200 large and medium-sized industrial and civil architectural design projects inside and outside the area. Inner Mongolia construction workers training center and construction industry vocational skill appraisal station are located in the college. They are the special institutions approved by the government of the autonomous region to undertake the education and training of construction industry workers in the whole region. They undertake the training tasks and construction of national and autonomous region architects, structural engineers, real estate appraisers, urban planners, cost engineers, registered builders and other high-level professional and technical personnel There are 30 types of work in the industry, and more than 10000 people are trained and appraised annually.

At present, the college has more than 600 teachers, including 34 professors and 196 associate professors, with a strong teaching force, ranking first in Higher Vocational Colleges in the region. 353 enterprise experts and engineering technicians from construction industry were employed as visiting professors, part-time teachers and practical training instructors, and a "double teacher" teaching team with full-time and part-time combination was built.

Five majors were identified as the demonstration majors supported by the central government. In 2017, it cooperated with Inner Mongolia University of technology, Inner Mongolia University of science and technology, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and Inner Mongolia University of finance to hold six undergraduate level vocational education majors, including civil engineering, building energy and environmental engineering, transportation engineering, environmental design, architecture and project cost.
