Wang Wenbin said that on August 15, when three Chinese students entered Houston Airport with legal visas, they were examined by the United States and repatriated to China on the grounds that they were funded by the Chinese government or military training photos were found in their personal mobile phones, so they were suspected of military background. China is strongly dissatisfied with this, resolutely opposes it, and has made solemn representations to the United States.
The United States repatriates Chinese students under the pretext of making rumors or even absurd excuses, which seriously damages the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students studying in the United States and seriously undermines the normal people to people and cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between China and the United States. This discriminatory practice against students from specific countries is completely contrary to the self proclaimed concept of openness and freedom and the statement of welcoming Chinese students by the United States, and runs counter to the trend of the times of international talent exchange. It is a reversal of history and should be condemned. China urges the United States to correct its mistakes, stop using various excuses to unreasonably restrict and suppress Chinese students, and stop obstructing words and deeds that undermine China US cultural exchanges. China will continue to support Chinese students studying abroad to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests according to law.
